Sky offer refusal

Hi All,
I received a letter in the post for a sky offer which gave me 12 months 1/2 price subscription on any package.
I rang to take up the offer giving them the official code on the letter and they refused to give me the offer. The offer end date was 27th December.
I already have sky so they said i can’t have the offer because i am an existing customer. On this basis i asked them if i could cancel my contract. They then changed there mind and said actually i can’t have the offer because i am new customer. Make up your mind guys!!!!!
I spent 29mins on the phone with them 08441 number doing this.
I think they sent me the offer letter by accident but still should they not uphold the offer?
Well whatever my rights are after my sky contract is finished i will be signing up to bt vision or virgin no more sky ever again. They should give you offers if they are not going to uphold them.

I suspect that Sky are in breach of the Consumer Protection Act 1987 and its requirements regarding Misleading Price Indications but they might have a get out if the offer letter made it clear the offer was not available to existing Sky subscribers.
It might be worth trying an email to their CEO - jeremy.darroch@bskyb.com - if you still want Sky to stick to the offer that you feel they made you. His high level customer complaints department often override the unhelpful approach of the customer services front line staff.
Also regarding the expensive 0844 phone calls if you had set up online account management with them and then sent them a message saying you wanted to upgrade your subscription you would have got a free call back from them in no time flat.0 -
Just changed from Sky after having it since it came out. I have gone to Virgin, they are cheaper (for us), and it is free to call them.
Very impressed so far, and the TV on demand is far better than SkyYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

I used to have Virgin and tbh...it was poor.
Also, the Virgin HD is practically non existent.
If you are going for Sports and Movies aswell, then SKY have no competition, either with service or price.0 -
freesat geting iplayer and ITV on demand0

catchup is amazing! its good always something to watch instead of daytime TV0
