Can they really do this......
a company called "mobile shop" charge customers £10 for porting number over to o2 or vodaphone networks when placing an order on a new contract with them?
quote from their site
"Your existing number will then be ported and made live on your new sim card in approximately 7 to 10 working days of receipt of your new mobile. We will advise your of the expected "porting date". We charge
a non-refundable administration fee of £10.00 for number ports to the Vodafone
and O2 networks. This is on top of any administration charge which maybe levied
by your current network provider. "

yes they can. Singlepoint used to charge before they got taken over by vodafone. The main phone companies themselves don't charge, but they could if they wanted to.0

Singlepoint used to charge to issue PACs (think it was £25 or something like that?).
Mobileshop (and several other companies that I've seen) charge to administer number ports when buying your new phone - rather than offering good customer service and processing the sales transaction for free, they are charging you extra for it - even worse because O2 and Vodafone contract number ports have to be carried out at time of connection - with Orange and T-Mobile I believe you can port in at any time...0
