Chris,
You are not going to make many friends here if you insult everyone.. better to stick to the technical advice.
I'm surprised you are suggesting buying a Sony, after all the problems you have had. DVD drive, headphone port..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
If you're going to buy Dell then phone them
We just bought the 6400 with the 256mb graphics card duo processor etc etc etc 1gb mem and paid the princely sum of £656 for it including delivery. With all the oophm that I had it upgraded to it should have been well over £850 but it's amazing what you can get if you're cheeky and you speak to someone in person
As for Dell printers SELL IT! The ink cartridges cost a small fortune and you're better off selling it and buying epson or brother or really anything other than Dell...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
For some reason, I'm just a bit uncomfortable about the dell laptops even though ive seen one spec i like and hence the reason for this thread.
ive heard such mixed reviews that im thinking that im prob better off buying a toshiba-not heard anything bad about them....yet!Respond to every call that excites your spirit.0 -
Agreed Nice product until it breaks. I had one with work and it was a nightmare to get sorted. There after service is as bad as ebuyers.0

Lot of Dell bashing going on..
They wouldn't have 20% of the world PC market if they sold crap.. With that volume of sales, you are always going to be able to find a tale of woe if you look for it. In my experience they are very reliable.
There is no middle man, so they are cheaper than any branded goods that you can buy in the shops.
There is £200 difference between this

and the Tosh.
Do you need a 80GB drive? DVD Writer? 3 year warranty?
If not I wouldn't waste your money. 512 MB of Ram is the only thing I would make sure is included because it will make XP run smoother.
Whatever you buy is going to be out of date in 6 months (Vista), so it's not worth blowing money on high spec laptops.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
I agree with Albertross on this one, WIth a Dell what you see is what you get the only thing that annoys me is the fact on the web site it says Inspiron 1300 £299 and when you press the link it goes up to £469 ( or something like that ) Cant fault the build quality although it is very basic looking ( inspiron range ) to get the cheap price you need to take a few things off the spec which makes it not worth having in the first place. Check our site for an offer well below Dells price, not pasting the link as i'm starting to feel like i do nothing but promote Think4 on hereThink40
