Can I use my old AOL router with new TalkTalk service?

Hi all
I've swapped from AOL to Talk Talk but the new router (D-Link) has to be within about 3 feet of my computer to work properly, otherwise it just won't connect to the internet.
Can I use my old AOL speedtouch router (which worked fine from 10ft) & if so do I need to do anything to configure it to the TalkTalk server??
Any help gratefully received.

You can use your old router, just enter the necessary info for your TT account, usually just your username and password in the router's web interface.
But your new router should work at 10 feet away! Have you tried changing the wireless channel before youy swap ebrything over. Does it work OK on ethernet (i.e. are you 100% sure it is just a wireless issue)? No free lunch, and no free laptop0
