What did she ask for, when she got the cigs wrong?
My nana doesn't find it funny when she's laughed at and takes a strop too. Doubt she'd be successful in sueing anyone.0 -

ASDA staff at rushden left my 82 year old nan, feeling humilaited, uncomfortable and in my opinion abused as a customer in that she left the store very distressed, upset and sick, she was due to enoy a weekend holliday I paid for as a surprise, this was spolied as she felt very depresed by the whole experience. Al becasue she asked for the wrong cigaretes, the two women it seems, sighed at her, giggled and laughed at my nan who didnt think it was funny, in fact my nan felt belitteled by the experience. I have sent a letter to ASDA CEO over two weeks ago, no rsepnse, an email to ASDA, a reply saying they recieved my email will be in touch; no reply
I contacted store, recieved a message from Duty manager after nearly 4 days, basicall said sorry?????
I feel that my nan should be compendsated for her experience, she has recieved nothing from ASDA at allnot even an apology?
What can I do to escualte my complaint so someone will respooond, can I go to small claims court as my nan was left devasted by the whole experience for several days. many thanks;
Is ther an Ombudsmen or Trade Body to interevene as ASDA dont care?
many thanks
Get a grip on yourself.

Firstly, the situation was observed by another customer, one staff member tutted and laughed when she had to get the correct items, the she then told the second staff member wherebye both of them stood there and laughed at her.
Im sorry if other people dont think that this is an incident that shouldnt have happened, but when her son who was waiting at the doors for her as he had taken shopping to the car, she was very distresed about the experience and when she cam home, she was clearly upset and spoiled her weekened break.
Its a great pit that those people who gave such "unhelpfull coments" didnt seea 82 year old still in her coat feeling absaultey humilated to the extent she was in tears and sick. I realy would not like to be there nanas at that age>
No I am not chasing after anything? ASDA manager asked me what form of compensation I would like, I said I leave that up to them what they considerde as suitible for a 82 year old[thinking maybe flowers2 but not even a writen appology.
As a customer, regardles of age, staff should respect there customers not to make them feel foolish. Her son went straight to customer servcies desk to make an official complaint at the time iot happened.
odd but I thought this site was to help people and not add more insults?0 -
send your naan (peshwari or garlic?) back in in disguise to buy her cigs (george do quite a good range of clothes for all ages, you could dress her up as a 30-something business man. smart price 2-piece suit, a bit of hair gel, she'll be sorted). maybe you could write the name of the cigs around her wrist. the kiosk staff will think she (or he if you go for the 30-something business man route) is checking her watch, when really she's reading the name of the ciggies she needs. the kiosk staff wont laugh, your naan wont complain, and everyone'll be happy as larry.

Wow ; sympathy is in short supply this Christmas.
Sadly I did laugh at the "buy holiday in Asda " comment
On a more serious note, I doubt the assistants were were trying to humiliate your gran as in any serious retail concern if anyone deliberately mocked and humiliated a customer they would be out of the door damn quick ( gross misconduct).
More likely is that they misjudged a jokey comment or your gran misunderstood it or both.
I think you took the right track in writing to the management and perhaps follow this up again if you get no satisfactory response. However there is no "right" to a satisfactory outcome for you (nor an ombudsman) and your only recourse would then be to try and generate enough bad publicity to get them to "see your point of view"
Hope this helps0 -

Get a grip OP, for goodness sake, everyone has things like this happen from time to time, maybe you should tell her to get a sense of humour and while your at it take some time to put this into perspective...

Not a nice way to treat an elderly lady.
But I'm thinking this might be MrKringle from another thread...??"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)
