ARG!!!!! I dont know how how to write this one without it all turning into exclamation points....:mad::mad:

Essentially our landlady had us told a few weeks ago that she was very happy to have us stay for another year and when the end of our contract rolled around in about a month we would just go sign it. On the basis of this we spent some money getting the garden tidied (it was a total tip when we got here) and obviously hadnt been budgeting for another deposit. Then today we went up to give her a bit of post that had come to us by mistake and she tells us that we need to go after all! She wants to move some relative of hers in and wants us to move out ASAP. She cant make us go until the end of the tenancy in June, but STILL! This throws a HUGE spanner in the works - we'll have to move, likely to a place with higher rent as this place was a bargain, we'll lose all the time and money we put into fixing up her garden for her and will need to move around the time that OH's job will really disapear. This is complete and utter !!!!, we'll need to pay any moving costs that of course we havent budgeted for over the next month or two, who knows if we'll even pass a tenancy credit check with only me working. And find a deposit since we wont get this one back until after we are out.

    Hi NTBY
Just popping in to say hi. What an absolute bummer for this to happen now just when you were sounding optimistic that you were starting to get things sorted out.

Hope your exploring options today throws up some ideas. Will pop back later to see how you're getting on.

Thanks, spoon. Ive been distracting myself from the mayhem by doing some flat hunting online (Im such a snoop that I love it - looking into other peoples houses and seeing their toilets!). OH already saw one place - I have time lined up to see a friends place that shes letting while shes abroad, and hopefully a few other options this week.

Just so dont need this right now - my workload at the office is huge, Im low on cash and OH's job situation has left us vulnerable. Bleh - poo poo poo.

Hi NTBY - Murphy's law always applies - something will always come and kick you when you're already down.

Hopefully your friend's place will work out - sounds as though that could be good.

I love looking at houses/flats online as well and checking out the decor - being nosey!

Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you.

Look after yourself and try not to get too down about the whole thing - you'll be less able to make a rational decision like that.

    Take care

Thanks, both. I am keeping busy at least - saw a horrid place today but now I know at least I guess, have 3 more places Im looking at over tomorrow and Saturday. The place today was up 4 filthy (and I have low standards!) flights of narrow stairs, was tiny and extreemely run down, and the ceiling leaks in the rain. All mine for a bargain price of £230 a week! Love london, right?

    ok flat hunting updates -

Saw a place a bit farther away which was sooooo pretty. really really lovely and in good condition, but of course a bit too far out and too expensive. It belongs to a friend of mine (currently living abroad) so I could probably ask for a small discount, but it would still be a bit pricey. Going to see another place today which I suspect will be pretty rubbish.

On the bright side though, a colleague of mine has a flat in Camden (where I live now and want to keep living), almost as cheap as this place and sounds perfectly liveable! And as its not through an agent we wont be throwing a few hundred £ on fees... Really excited about this and trying not to get my hopes too high in case it falls through! Hopefully will see that place some time over the weekend.
