well yet again it has been a while and unfortunately I have lots of confessions to make, I have really not been very MSE lately.

    1. I have brought a dining table we saved up two months worth of household money we have £200 budgeted each month and we brought a beautiful table from IKEA to be honest it was really cheap but it has finished off the living room finally!

    2. This month our debt repayment money has had to go on car insurance which is not good especially as we have paid about the same amount on confession 1, I realise that this was really bad financial planning and we are determined to save for it starting now.

    3. As we have had the dining table we have been having people round for meals almost every other day, last weekend we even had a full dinner party 'come dine with me' style, hence our food budget has been completely blown.

    4. I have done no extra shifts this month.

    5. We are due to be taking the children for a week of camping at the end of August and we have no money saved or budgeted for this.

All in all a bad month and I am determined to start posting again now as I realise the correlation between the lack of posts and the lack of financial sense:o

I do have some plans for how we are going to pay the debts off before the end of the year but I will keep these to myself until they are definite.

    Oh Emmie! :(

I wondered where you went, and now I know: Ikea! :rotfl:

You are quite right about the lack of posts corresponding with the increasing amount of money spent. I've done it myself, and it's referred to as GUILT!

Start posting again, lady, or else we shall shake our fists and stalk you in Stoke!

BTW, now that you have FINALLY finished the dining room - and now that you have FINALLY got her out of your system - start sorting yourself out, love! ;)

I consider myself having been told off lol!
I am determined to start sorting myself out from now on, I've just booked our camping trip it will cost £80 luckily I did some extra shifts last month which I will be paid this month so that should cover that, we have our merlin cards so all the days out will be free, all we will need to pay for is food and we have an electric hook up so that should be ok as well.
I'm going to phone my extra shift job tomorrow and tell them what dates I can do this month (well whats left of it).
Hubby has been ordered to do some ebay, as I am tidying I keep coming across all sorts of things that are still in the wrappers that he has brought over the years and so could be sold.
    Right off to work!

Well summer is over and it is time to get back to normal, I have had a great time, debt has continued to decrease but not at the same rate as before. We were really beginning to feel awful I had a horrible dose of flu which took me ages to get over and I really do believe that I was doing too many extra shifts and things I was beginning to get really down and depressed. So I've decided that we need to just try and cope with the money we have coming in, we will be able to afford to pay off quite a bit every month if we are careful but without doing loads of overtime. Hubby has still got to do compulsory overtime which should help at least. However without the extra shifts we are definately not going to be debt free by the end of the year but should be about another 6 months at the most.
This month I worked out that I'd got £150 to spend on everything that isn't budgetted for.
I went out last night, I borrowed an outfit off a friend so didn't have to pay out on clothes, I spent £30 in total, I have spent £20 on toiletries/make up and I've spend £10 on a prescription pre-payment certificate (it will be £10 a month). This means I have £90 left although I do have an appointment at the hairdressers towards the end of the month, so the majority of myspare money will go on that. I'll try and update my signature later!

Sounds good, Emmie: it's not worth damaging your health, and you can always take the odd day of overtime here and there if you decide to, later on. And let's face it, you sig is looking pretty healthy compared to the start. ;)

Best of luck, and keep us posted! x

well had a productive day today, have resorted to good old ebay for some extra cash instead of the dreaded overtime. We have been doing little bits over the summer yesterday quite a few ended making us nearly £40 we now have just short of £100 in paypal, we are keeping it in there hoping that it will pay for some of xmas, I have also decided to put all of the left over cash at the end of the month once everything that is budgetted for is spent, so far we have £50 in that kitty so hopefully xmas won't be too much of a drama.
Also went out at the weekend for a friends birthday and because I haven't been out in so long I felt like I hadn't got anything to wear so I went out and spent £25 on some new shoes to bling up an outfit, however on the night itself I ended up borrowing an outfit from a friend so today I took the shoes back which felt good!
Now I am going to take a look at amazon my hubby has got some old vinyl to sell and we have tried before on ebay but we had to keep relisting it, so I reckon amazon might be the way forward so that we can put it all on and just leave it there until it sells - although I know nothing about selling on amazon so am off to do some research now.

Well done, emmie - that's brilliant! It just goes to show that you can still debt-bust if you think of ways round it!

Best of luck - you don't have too far to go! xxx

Just a quick update, we have been busy debt busting now down to the last debt we are hoping to clear that in the first half of next year all being well. Not posting much cause nothing really going on no drama, just gradually paying off the debt. We could probably be debt free now if we had been a little more frugal during the year but we feel quite comfortable with what we are paying off at the moment, we are still enjoying the odd meal out and things and all the debt is on 0% so there is no real rush to clear it, we are now paying off about £700 a month on average we did have a couple of blips but if we can really focus in the beginning of 2011 the debt should be gone by May. My main goal is still to take the children abroad next year and this is keeping me going!if the debt is paid off by May we will have three months to pay for the summer holidays so it will be a cheap holiday but a holiday all the same.

    That's never...no, it is...no, it can't be...it's Emmie! :T

Welcome back, Emmie - it has been a while!

Glad to see that the debtbusting is going well. You are so near the end - well done! :T :T

The idea of that holiday will keep you going through many a dark night, so enjoy it when it comes.

At your current rate of paying things off, how long do you think you've got left to get rid of your last debt? Remember the Debt Free Role of Honour for that time! :)
