I'm tackling my debts in 2010

yuk yuk yuk, I feel yuk!
Am a bit annoyed the plumber said he would be here at 1 and still no sign and its 3, however this may be good news as I really don't want to take the children to gymnastics as I have a horrible cold, my head feels like it is going to explode and I just want to lie down and if he comes after I have picked my son up from school then we won't be able to go at all. I have had a spend free couple of days did do some grocery shopping yesterday, spent £10 on milk, bread and fruit and veg, still have cupboards and fridge freezer full from monthly shop.
I've agreed to do 2 more days overtime this month so thats a couple of hundred pounds in the kitty, I can't wait to get my tax back, hopefully by next month all the spending will be out of the way for the living room and we can pay off a huge chunk of the credit cards, heres hoping there isn't some unnecessary expense coming our way.
Better go now and pick my beloved son up and hope that he isn't too hyped up as I want to curl up in a huge blanket and get warm!

Do a mini gym at home. I used to get my 2 godsons "training" by shouting random words at them, running on the spot, sit ups, star jumps, push ups. This way I could sit on the sofa watching them tire themselves out :rotfl:
I hate it when plumbers etc don't turn up, I'm usually on the phone to them as soon as they are about 20 mins lateMortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Extra money is not on credit card, the money is in the account we just have it allocated to other things like saving for the car tax and insurance (due in november), ultimately it will be coming of extra debt repayments as it is coming out of hubby's overtime money.
I agree although at the moment I think that it will be quite a few months before I can afford to get either, as I've said we have £100 a month allocated to house spending so once we have stopped using this for decorating it can go towards curtains and new table and chairs, thats if I can learn to wait, this is something I am struggling with
Well at least it isn't getting you into any further debt, and well done on struggling: at least you realise that it's where you have been going wrong and are trying to deal with it! :T (And none of us are perfect or in a position to judge - I just blew £25 I don't really have on a pair of FitFlops cos if I didn't get them now, there would be none left when I would need them!)yuk yuk yuk, I feel yuk!

I have a cold, too, and know what you mean: it's so nearly gone, but still causing me to wipe my beak far, far too many times, but I nearly forgot all about my tax rebate! I'll have to wait until the end of the month before I can ring up HR and yell at them, apparently.
Ah well...£284 come to mama, please!

Had a shocking weekend, got in friday feeling really terrible and got a phonecall from my mum to say that my brother was coming to visit from scotland and that she was running late returning from her holiday so he had to stay with me. Normally this would be ok but I was feeling horrible and had to make up my sons bed so that my brother could sleep in there and my son had to sleep in with me. I thought this would be ok because my hubby was away but I had forgotten that the curtains in my bedroom are really sheer, hence the reason my son got up at 6am on sat and sun:eek:.
Today I am feeling really down (hence my moaning post) I have just been on facebook and two seperate groups of friends have been away for the weekend, the photos look like they had a great time, it has been ages since I last went out and I feel like my friends are going to stop asking me because I just keep saying no!
By the beginning of next year I will hopefully be debt free but as a result friend free!
Paying back the plastic is such hard work I hope I can stick to it:(

Your friends won't forget about you, behind all those photo's, could be faces filled with dread about how much debt they are in and that they shoudn't really have gone away for the weekend. No one talks about debt (expect on here in secret) as it's not the done thing.
I understand how it feels to miss out, we missed 2 Saturdays in the pub with friends as we were doing the houses upMortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

thanks guys I know you are right I think I should stop going onto facebook at least for a while, I know I need to pay back the debt and as they say no pain no gain!
All I keep thinking about is what I am going to spend our debt repayment money on when we have paid back the debt, up to yet I have probably spent £10,000 mentally :rotfl:£3000 on new windows, £3000 on a holiday for the children, shiny new 'things for the living room £? etc etc. I really am a mentalist :rotfl:
Its a good idea about having friends round as soon as the living room is finished we will have to invite everyone around for a house party, that will cheer me up!

There nothing wrong with planning what to spend the money on after you have got out of debt, that's allowed
What not allowed is getting into debt to pay for these things, you have to save (and pay half the savings off your mortgage so then you can be mortgage free)
Oh how preachy does that sound :rotfl:

You are right we should pay as much as possible off our mortgage when we are debt free but I can pretty much gaurantee that we will not be saving or paying off the mortage in the first year when we are debt free, I intend on going on a holiday for sure, the children have not yet been abroad and I want to take them to disneyland paris while they are still young. We also need new windows before a gust of wind blows the old ones out of their frames. However after a year of saving like crazy I am sure that we will fell REALLY frivalous spending anything at all. Maybe we could set up a standing order to pay £100 off our mortgae as currently we are putting almost £1000 a month aside to clear our debts so that would leave us about £900 left for other things.
One thing that I have always wanted is a savings account with a couple of thousand pounds in, just in case of an emergency, like the boiler breaking down, it would cause a lot less stress.
I don't know why I am thinking about this yet my debt is not yet halved but maybe our change in spending habits has made me think that being debt free is actually achievable in the not too distant future.
Radish I am sure you will keep my spending habits on the straight and narrow, regardless.
