Mudders, if you haven't had the need for a sewing machine for the last x years, why do you need one now?
Would you really, seriously, use it?
If the answer is probably not then suggest that, instead, he pays for you for a day trip to a spa, all expenses and treatments paid and he looks after the kids whilst you're there (though that may be a bit of a coals to Newcastle theme but you know what I mean)

Soappie - I think you've answered the question for me! An hour of walking round John Lewis and that was the only thing I'd vaguely like. My problem (and it's not a problem at all) is that I don't replace things until they're broken so whilst I might see lovely radios/ipods/etc/etc the ones I have work fine. The only thing i'd really like is a new bed but they're mega expensive. Mmmm wonder if I could start a bed fund and ask for a small donation to that. Then in x years from now I could get the bed I really want rather than going for a cheaper one.
Going to tidy up 7 things and put the washing in the dryer for ten minutes xx0 -

xx_Jo_xx? She wasnt on my list i dont think but I have her address somewhere!
toots xx
Its ok now. DH said it must have tissued (ie come out of the vein but stayed in the skin) which I think it must have done because it got very painful and when she flushed it with water the coolness went down into my hand rather than down my arm like it normally does. Anyway the good news is I dont have to have any more fingers crossed, need to have blood test in a month to make sure its all working properly and then should be back at work - jut in time for my busy time (and overtime :rotfl:)
xx_Jo_xx wasnt on my list either and I dont have an addressSummerMoon wrote: »sorry off topic.... but I am sooooo glad I picked my nephew up for school this morning.

Wow, someone high up was looking after them todaymumofjusttwo wrote: »Had my BSL course today and I passed. Got 18/18 although the tutor told us this was the easy one and the other two are a lot harder:eek: No more college until after Christmas now just need to do my Childcare assignment then
Ok its a good job I couldnt find the paint which I think must be in the garage as I decided I was going to paint the living room this evening and I didnt care how long it took. It has never had a second coat and is now decidedly scruffy in fact no its grim and I want it to look nice for Christmas. Might do tommorow night now instead now. I really dont want to put our lovely tree up in such a !!!!!! looking room
Anyway I have now written ALL the cards I need to except DS' which is just waiting for when DH is here to sign it as well so another thing out of the way.
Think now I will go and do something from the list, No I wont I'll chase DD to do some more in her room. There's just a small pile left and I dont know why she wont do it, could be done in half an hour
Right see you later x
ETA Anyone seen or heard from zoelikesjam today, think last post was before she went off to school fair yesterday - hope you ok zoeMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
Unrelated question - do I want a sewing machine? I have never been able to sew. I had lessons at school but spent a year making a hideous skirt which was then turned into bedding by the hamster (best place for it). I've also had a bit of a 'can't let it beat me' feeling. DH wants to get me something for Christmas. Do I ask for one of the mini sewing machines you can get e.g. HERE? What can you do with them? Would it just be a white elephant?
Oooh that's my first posh link!!!:rotfl:
I wouldn't go for one of those machines as a first machine. It will only sew light to medium fabrics and doesn't have a very big motor. It would be better to get a standard sized machine that you could use for things you might need it for eg making curtains, cushion covers, sewing up hems etc. You could probably get a good one on Freegle/Freecycle and then hubbie could buy you something to go with it like good dressmaking scissors and threads. Or something else you really want
And if you really don't get any pleasure from it give it away again.
I have to admit I am a bit biased as my first teaching qualification was as a textiles teacher, then I retrained but still love sewing.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

oooh I have done my ironing then updated my bank account then updated CSA (which I am supposed to do weekly) to confirm direct payments. (If I don't do that then if exOH ever defaults they won't chase him so I have to keep it a semi-official arrangement) . I was *cof* 8 weeks behind

Then if that's what you really want, tell DH to use the present money to open a brand new account which you can call your "Bed Fund" account. Put any little spare bits of saving/unexpected income/£2 collections etc. in it and don't touch it until there's enough in there for your ideal bed.I am the leading lady in the movie of my life
