Swine flu, to have or not to have, that is the question.

Are we sure of that?
My surgery nurse (and btw she said all their doctors and nurses had been vaccinated) said that it was developed in the same way that the seasonal flu vaccine is developed. Every year a new vaccine is produced ready for the type of flu virus they anticipate that particular year.
She said that, as it was needed quickly, they just put other work on hold to get the vaccine out asap.
My daughter is asthmatic and it was a no brainer for her to have the injection. No-one has yet died from the vaccine. It's a simple case of weighing up the risks imo.0 -
Yes, each season's flu vaccine is different, and it's tested.
I don't think there's been any suggestion (not even in the Daily Mail!) that it's been 'rushed through testing'. I think that post was rushed through testing.0 -

Hi,
I have an invite for my 3 year old for the swine flu jab, he has to have 2 3 weeks apart, My partner and I have had the jab, and we both had sore arms, and fever/symptoms The Dr told us its a higher dose than normal flu jab and can produce mild flu symptoms.
We also were given a card with the number on,
I was dithering a bit about letting my son have the vaccine as he is fit and healthy eats his greens, but I guess seeing so many mums on here with positive responses has steered me more to having the vaccination. Its horrid as a mum knowing that the injection hurts! And yet I had no problems with him having HIB MMR TET and Whooping cough.
I often think people pass off a cold as flu and dont realise how serious it can be I guess I just talked myself into it! I would hate for something to happen to him when I had the opportunity to stop it, And He would be more likely to contract Swine Flu than Whooping cough or Polio!
Yes sorry son you are having the Jabs! ( and I guess a treat each time too! )0 -

When she gets the slightest cold it goes on her chest so really she should be an ideal candidate for this jab, she doesnt eat well and doesnt have the best immune system, I do feel reluctant to give her this jab as its been rushed through testing but I dont want to her to catch it and get sick
Similar to my DS2. I was reluctant at first (even though he would still get the jab anyway) and spent a night looking into it. It has had the same testing as any seasonal flu, just done over a shorter period of time, so instead of someone working in the seasonal vaccine for hours a day, they worked on the SF for 24 hours a day. Same amount of hours over a shorted time frame. The seasonal flu jab is different every year.
And now a friend on here has 2 little ones with full blown swine flu, one at 6 and one under a year old... I am so glad I did get him vaccinated, hearing what she is going through right now is enough to get rid of any doubts, or guilt, I ever had.0
