    I have t admit, although I'm a fairly adventurous eater eels just don't do it for me. I can't bring myself to try them. My family tell me I'd love them, but....you know...ther is a lot I love already...I'm not sure I need more...and I hate savoury jelly, cold consomme with a fork makes me gag.


    Brixham mussels are pretty fab. And those HUGE British oysters they sell at Borough Market............... HUGE!

    Un-seasoned eel and much like many bottom feeding fish taste like where they live, (the bottom of a river or lake) very earthy.

    Best eating fish is always predatory fish IMO. Pike is nice, and is quite like predatory sea fish.

    Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
    Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    Oddly, coarse fish smell nicer than game fish (salmon, trout etc) IMO. Nice, fresh smell.

    Where I used to fish, there were chub living alongside the trout, most of which were farmed fish, released into the river. The chub ate much the same diet as the trout & would be caught in the same way, so what made the chub 'coarse'?:confused:
    I am only going on someone else's description of chub as 'tasting like soggy cotton wool full of needles.'

    Tried eel once. Chopped into 5-10 cm pieces, the biggest problem was getting these to stop wriggling in the pan! :eek:I didn't really enjoy it after that. Quite a rich, oily taste from what I remember.

    Catching an eel is a nightmare (well getting the blighter off the hook is), the fellas don't do death in conventional terms.

    If other animals did the same a butchers would be bedlam.

    Pass, you can smoke anything really. I am sure it would taste better that way, I would think it may be a bit too firm for cold smoking, but I may be wrong.

    Never tried it, but would say there are better things you could stick in a smoker.

    I would leave eel as a "if I have too" fish, I don't plan on trying it a gain that is for sure. :)

    Not sure if it can be cured (like sushi) either say in lemon juice. Can't say I am going to try either.:)
