    Thats unkind.

He still believes he will be rescued.

We have all been there, hoping for a white knight.

It is a hard dream to give up

    I haven't been there.

If he needs to get out, he should do it without you holding his hand.

Sorry if I'm talking rubbish - I have no idea at all of his situation.

    Wishing you all well.

My comment was certainly not meant to be a put-down. It just made me laugh.

Just wanted to add - not saying he should get out, BTW. Last thing I'd want to do is offer advice on any of this.

The British invent it, the americans develop it and the far east mass produces it.
Not sure that is still true, at one time uk engineering was world class. Now we dont really make any cars ourselves though some of our designers work for other companies in that way, McClaren F1 was british designed?

I think Britain does the slow and steady thing best, pity we failed to respect that most recently in finance or it would have avoided the troubles and gained us alot in reputation

Apart from that I can only think of tabloid newspapers. The News of the world is the highest selling sunday newspaper I think. Not sure theres alot of envy though

Our benefit/justice system is the envy of immigrants, all the way from Somalia and Afghanistan to claim asylum here ?

    Sadly.

    Everything Changes
    after Brecht, 'Alles wandelt sich'

    Everything changes. We plant
    trees for those born later
    but what's happened has happened,
and poisons poured into the seas
    cannot be drained out again.

Apart from...the origin of fish and chips....well, never mind...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fish_and_chips
Fish and chips (sometimes written "fish 'n' chips") is a popular take-away food which originated in the United Kingdom.
In 1860 The first fish and chip shop was opened in London by Jewish proprietor Joseph Malin who married together "fish fried in the Jewish fashion" with chips

I believe the two together as a take away meal is actually from the British isles, EG we are the originators of the fish and chip shop.

Yup, got to admit that Cornwall has a hell of a lot going for it.

In fact, it's almost as good as Devon.:p
