If you are paying £4.95 per month, ring them tell them you want to change it so you get charged for every transaction rather than monthly, then don't put any money on it and let it run out.

Not sure how it would work if you have ticked for it to be a credit re builder

Thanks what my mother in law did a few years back.

I just never re-loaded it and it finally expired.

    :j :j

  • I cancelled my card by following the instructions in the terms & conditions - write a letter saying you want to cancel your account and include your card, cut in two. Just remember to cancel your standing order for the card fee:o
Don't judge people on they way they look, the way they speak or what they're called because they can't help that.

Only judge people on what they say and what they do.

Why do you want to cancel it, Gaz?

I want to get rid as I now have a bank account.

I read that if you dont use the card for 120 days you will pay admin fee's of 4.95 a month, this was for both types of card, Flexi and Active.

    Hi Gaz

I have a bank account but I find it handy to have, put all my food and petrol money on it, and I never spend any of the bill money by mistake LOL

Never take my bank card out with me then there is no temptation.

I have just been looking for that clause in the T&C:

    http://www.mycashplus.co.uk/cashplusDefault/TermsCond.pdf

I must admit that I couldn't find it, but I could be wrong?

Certainly, on the 'Pay Monthly' and Pay Monthly Deluxe' options, their website clearly states "No fee if no balance."

As the Cashplus is a fullblown 'Mastercard', whereas most 'basic' bank accounts only offer Maestro debit cards or Visa 'Electron', then the cashplus card could, for most people, be complimentary to a Bank Account.

  • I am going to take one of these out and transfer my food money onto it, that way I can keep a nice tally of what I have spent without worrying about the other bills.

And, should I ever need to order anything and want the safety net of the credit card guarantee I will at least have that.

Must admit that I have had one of these since I went BR. They are great. I don't have the pay monthly thing, I just bung half a stripe on it now and then and pay the 99p transaction fee when I have to use it. Job done!!!

I don't think that is correct.
I only tried to use mine once about a year ago, it was a complete disaster and I haven't put a penny on it since and have never been charged any 'admin fee'
