Hi there,
Im looking for a new hone for xmas.
Basically I do not want a contract as I only occasionally use my phone. However, I would like to use the internet on my new phone from time to time.
I have seen this blackberry phone on hotukdeals:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/520155/blackberry-8520-black-or-white-10-c
...which it states is unlocked.
Now, if I were to purchase a '3' sim, and put £10 on it.... I assume it would give me unlimited internet for that month?
This seems ideal because if I couldn't afford to top-up £10 every month, then I simply wont need to. However, if I want to access the internet for a month, I simply need to top-up
Here is the sim details:
http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mobiles/sim-cards/sim-card-tariffs
Although Ive heard 3 isn't great with covrage it seems the only option I have. Any thoughts?
Finally, I would also like to ask if the sim cards on that page would be ok to use on the blackberry phone I posted above. I'm not sure about this 3g malaky.... do I need a 3g sim?
Thanks for any replies.

Hi,
Unfortunately there are 2 problems you would come across, the first being that the blackberry you mention is not a 3G phone and wont accept a 3 sim card. The next is blackberries work differently with regards to internet access and the way to do this on pay as you go is with orange and pay £5 a month from your credit balance for Blackberry Internet Service which gives you 50mb of data for internet and emails.
Hope this helps.

So I would have to select another unlocked phone (not a blackberry), make sure it is 3G, THEN purchase a 3 sim card?
Many Thanks again

No problem, just make sure any unlocked phone you buy is a 3G phone and grab yourself a 3 network sim card.
If you need the email functionality of the blackberry and a full keyboard why not look at the inq chat 3G and the nokia E63? Both available directly from 3 on pay as you go for around £100 and have push email with a qwerty keyboard.
