Sorry for posting this here, but i was studying the forum and there does not seem to be a forum for this??
Ok, moving house and i have sky digital, before i ring them i wanted to know how this will work from other peoples experiences.
I want sky in the new house, it's a new build so will require installation. Do i just take my equipment with me, reciever and dish, or do i leave it the dish on my existiing house? do i have to cancel sky and become a new customer at the new house?
I just want to know the facts so i don't end up paying for something i could get for free
Thanks

I would try phoning one of the independant sky installers (find them in the Yellow pages) they will give you a more honest answer.
When we had our last sky box fitted (upgrade to Sky +) the man who fitted it was chatting to me about moving and he gave me his mobile number. Said to give him a call when it happens and he would do me a good price. He said that Sky tend to blag a lot of costs for doing the job.
Might have been having me on but I reckon it's good to get a second opinion and an independant is likely to give you a better price than the big boys at Sky0 -
ring sky. tell them you're moving and you would like an engineer to install the equipment. they'll tell you theres a charge for this but tell them you would rather cancel and get a freeview box. voila. no charge. it worked for me. you take the dish down and take all your equipment with you. they'll send an engineer to fit it for you free of charge. you might even get a new dish if you get a kind engineer. i did0

phone them as a new customer with new address. they will tell you you already have an account.Tell them you want the same deal as new customers or you'll go to cable.
In fact phone 08701 942 096, quote 'introduce a friend' and you'll get a free sky+ box and the full package for £10 a month for the first 3 months!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The official line is to take your sky box, remote and scart cables, but the dish is not mentioned.

I don't think you have anything to gain by taking the dish, unless you plan a DIY install at your new property. Personally, I would leave it, unless the new owners particularly want it removed.0 -
Sorry to butt in, we moved a month ago but decided not to renew our Sky account. There is a dish at our new property, which we've hooked up to our receiver and we're now using this as a freeview box (you can get more channels than simple terrestrial TV if you leave your expired card in).
If I were to call Sky and tried to register as a new customer with the new address and another name (my old account was in my maiden name, new account would be in DH's name), but drawing funds from the same bank account, would they be able to make the connection to the old account?
Very doubtful that I'd actually want to have Sky again, but if I ever did, I'd like to be able to take advantage of all their new customer offers!
(sorry to the OP for the thread hi-jack, but we're almost asking for the same thing)

take your sky box/remote/cables.
leave your dish at the property, unless you are going to try and fit it yourself at your new place.
call sky and ask for a moving home offer install which will cost you £40, you could try and blag either half price or for free if you are nice on the phone, kind of say you cant really afford to do it and you would like too cancel your subscription, they may offer you a deal if your NICE to them!0 -

It's £50 M+S vouchers to introduce a friend, no Sky + box
http://www.sky.com/friend
If you just want £50 straight, go via Quidco. We're joining Sky when we move house on friday and I can't see a way to combine being introduced by a friend and getting the quidco £50. If anyone knows how to do both, my friend would be grateful of her £50 M+S vouchers;)Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Leave the old dish at your old property. You will then get a new dish installed for free when you sign up again at your new property - although you will have to have a 12 month contract.0

I got the "Introduce a friend" offer from a mailing that arrived this morning; no mention of £50!!!!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
