Mobile phone fault who to go to for repair?
Hi
My Sony Erricson C905 mobile has developed a fault.
Its fine for texting and photos everything apart form sending/recieving calls:rolleyes:
It goes to ring but people the other end cant hear me then if I get a call I cant hear anyone. No idea what that could be?
I have rung t mobile who ran tests and got me to try sim in a spare handset - it works fine there so must be a handset fault.
They say I need to go to a t mobile shop but it will no doubt be sent away and cant see this being back before xmas.
Other option is to go to where I got it from Car phone warehouse.
CPW have an onsite repair shop but its at the massive shopping mall about 8 miles away, i dont drive and the idea of that place and the crowds before xmas is not good:eek:
I had a polite moan that I was having to buy credit for my old PAYG mobile whilst my contract phone was faulty so thay have credited my account with £14 to come off next bill.
I can swap my sim to old phone and use that but not happy - want to get my camera phone fixed but not a good time of year I know!
Wondering if people think its best to try CPW or a t mobile store. Anyone know on average whos quicker?

I would take it back to CPW ...it's down to the retailer to sort it out for you and you should ask for a replacement phone whilst it's away for repair.
Have a read of these links and take copies with you if you feel they will argue the point.

I would warn against cpw - their so-called repair servie (like so much of their organisation) is a complete disaster. it is highly likely the phone will come back (after several attempts) worse than it started with. Of course, it IS free - but any other alternative might be better! Oh - and any replacement phone is likely to be utter crap!0

Thanks for the links Silk will read later on.
This same handset had a keypad fault, within the first month I had it, so It's been into CPW before and they had no replacement phones then. It did have to go back the following week but seemed fine after.
The repair centre is in the massive shopping mall about 8 miles away so massive hassle to get to this side of Christmas Its so busy! Just wondering if the Tmobile repair service would be any better.
I might look into seeing if there are any independant phone repair companies round here? Dont mind paying a small amount for a repair but hope It's nothing major! I have no idea if this is a major fault or not.
Have found an old handset in the drawer so can swap the sims round so Ive got a contract phone and a works phone if needed.
Next time Im going for a phone that has a better reputation than the C 905!
Thanks for the help Il make a few calls today see who has the fastest repair service.Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

Decided to risk the Carphone warehouse for free repair and have to say I was impressed. Dropped it off at 5.30pm last night and got a text this morning at 9.50 to say it was fixed!
Collected it after work tonight and it was the microphone that needed replacing - CPW by me has a instore repair centre so that sped things up.
Working fine at the mo (but not impressed thats repair no 3 since I got it in Jan!)Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

Yes I remember reading about that somewhere about that being a common fault. Hopefully no more problems with this one now!Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.
