If you are looking for a new car with that budget I would be looking at a Saab 93 2.0 turbo convertible (in fact I was looking at one yesterday in York)
If you are prepared to go used then as someone said Ford Mustang (Roush) or Corvette C6 are both fantastic cars if you can put up with LHD or if LHD is not for you then Vauxhall VRX8 is the same engine but in 4 door RHD format. I have driven its US counterpart and it is FAST but not as composed in corners as the C6 but have not driven the VRX8 so cant say if this is the same.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -
Nissan 350Z? Lovely to drive but a little thirsty.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

I think you would be best to talk it over with your partner, considering what you want a car to do for you, If it's just to 'one-up' the neighbours, or if you have practical reasons to use a particular type of car. Lifestyle choice, really.
For my personal lifestyle, I would choose A VW camper, or a Dual-cab pickup. ( I'm a 61 year old granny with a love of the outdoor life, horses and camping!

Much as the TVR and Aston Martin suggestions appeal to me £25K spent on a Maseratti or similar is a completely different financial proposition from the same purchase price on 1 series coupe or similar.
What total cost of ownership are you really considering.
If money was no object but I only wanted to tie up £25K of my much larger bank balance I'd have a hard time resisting an Aston

My advise would be to buy second hand to get more of a bargain. This means you can buy a 3 year old low mileage car that when new cost 50k plus. This will be far more prestigious, better specced, and classy than a chavtastic focus RS.
There are so many options I wont mention a single brand (many have already been mentioned. My suggestion is you go to autotrader and do a search for 25-28k (cos of the haggle factor) - set the age for 2-4 years, and the miles to below 60k. You will see some stunning cars.
Then sit down and choose a shortlist and enjoy.0 -
Spend 5k on a tdci fiesta for the wife. Spend another 1k getting your motorbike licence. 19k left? Buy this http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/200936341014961/sort/priceasc/usedbikes/radius/1500/page/1/postcode/ml118aq/keywords/turbo?previous=%2Fsearch%2Fresults%2Fusedbikes%2Fpostcode%2Fml118aq%2Fradius%2F1500%2Fkeywords%2Fturbo%2Fsort%2Fpriceasc%2Fpage%2F1&anchor=advert200936341014961&logcode=p
Spend the last 2k on a good life insurance policy. It'll keep the wife in fiestas forever.0 -
Get a MINI! Fantastic cars! Had one for the last 5 and a half years. Fun, fun fun! Get a cherished used one, an R53 or R50 cooper and bag the change!0
