Windows Xp wont startup - Blue screen

Hi everyone , Yesturday my computer completly froze so i restarted it and fired it back up , it said " boot from cd" then proceeded to load very slowly and just didnt move at all. i tryed again but it just came up with " windows has encountered a problem and need to close blah blah " i tryed safe mode and the other things but it just proceeds to restart , so i have disabled the auto restart function but that hasnt helped its doing the same thing to me , i also noticed i have seen a blue screen that flashes with some sort of error code but its too fast for me to look and read it! , ( its a windows xp professional , 512mb ram) , dont know the other specs. I can get into bios , but i have no clue on what to do!

i have no windows xp disc or recovery discs so i dont know if this can be fixed?

When you go into the bios you need to check the boot order. Make sure it is set to boot up from the hard drive.

if you have 2 sticks of ram try removing one at a time ,also try unplugging and reseating all cards in the PC

you really need an XP cd to boot from that and run chkdsk , then possibly fixmbr

What do I mean? Well, you say you have no recovery disks. Sometimes the manufacturer provides a recovery method on the HDD partition (press F8 or F10 or other on bootup) meaning you will not require the disks.
  • Went into bios
