When I get an iphone...

...if I'm not *that* bothered about the camera, is there any reason for me going for the 3GS over the 3G? The guy in the Orange shop seemed to think not, and in fact he reckons apps are available that make the 3G as good as the 3GS anyway. Obviously from the moneysaving point of view it would be marvellous if that was true! But is it? I don't want to have waited aaaall this time, only to make the wrong choice!

My OH has a 3GS while I have a 3G. The main differences are the memory is bigger on the 3GS, the 3GS loads things a bit quicker (eg opening text messages etc) and the 3GS has a compass, can't really think of anything else. If these things don't bother you, then stick with the 3G.
  • Sounds like the 3G will do me just fine then, thanks!

Pretty much everything is the same. I think you can transfer files by bluetooth too on the 3GS. I have the 3G and I love it. Anything that improves the phone comes out by software update, so thats quite impressive rather than having to get a brand new phone.
  • Ive just flogged my 3G

Camera bugged me too much! and plus i kept getting a funny buzzing sound

The irritating thing about the 3G is how much slower it is than the 3GS.
  • Good feedback, thanks! My current phone has no camera at all so I'm totally fine with using my actual camera when a photo is important to me. And as for speed, well what I've not had I won't miss I hope LOL! For me the small sacrifices are worth it for me to be able to afford the phone on an 18 month contract rather than having to go to 2 years. I'm just at the end of 2 long miserable years with a total dud of a SE phone, that was repaired several times before dying totally about 6 months ago. I've sworn off 2 year contracts forever!
