Hope someone can help here.
I am getting no sound at all from the speakers built-in to my laptop, but it works when I plug my headphones in. It's only been since about 8 tonight as I was watching catch up before that and it worked.
Any help appreciated.

try a system restore , just restore the laptop to a earlier time when the speakers worked . One of my computers looses the sound every few days (might get time to work out why) and i just restore to a earlier time.0

can you provide your laptop make and model as well as your operating system version as a starting point.0

It's a Dell Studio 1735, running Windows 7.
I've done a little searching on Google and apparently the driver Im using, IDT, is known for its problems. I've tried deleting it, but it just re-installs itself again.
I'll give system restore a try just now.0 -
Just did a system restore back to 2 days ago when the sound was working, and nothing. It's really puzzling how the sound can just turn itself off. Anyone know of how to fix this?0

Any errors in Device Manager next to Sound Device/Speakers?0

No, just checked the properties and says it's working properly.0

Any potential for an updated driver?0

Tried that as well, it's up to date according to Dell's website.
I've contacted Dell, it's thrown me.0 -

sometimes drivers will self update and and are not always as tested as they could be on release. If you goto your device manager and find the driver. in most windows versions there is an option to rollback the driver (install the last version of the driver) You could give this a go and see if it makes a difference.0
