King Robert the Bruce Ist was born at Lochmaben Castle in 1274. He was Knight and Overlord of Annandale. In 1306 he was crowned King of Scotland and henceforth tried to free Scotland from the English enemy.
After being defeated at a battle, Bruce escaped and found a hideout in a cave. Hiding in a cave for three months, Bruce was at the lowest point of his life. He thought about leaving the country and never coming back.
While waiting, he watched a spider building a web in the cave's entrance. The spider fell down time after time, but finally he succeeded with his web. So Bruce decided also to retry his fight and told his men: "If at first you don't succeed, try try and try again".Some sources tell it happended after being defeated at the battles of Methven and Dalry in the winter of 1313. He came back and won the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, even though his men were outnumbered ten to one.

  • I wish i could set upon the robbing !!!!!!!s with a broardsword. It would be like something out of Braveheart..

"Aye, fight and you may die. Run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR MONEY!"

Chris, you can read the OFT test case stuff if you are bored.

The above might help with the idea of free if in credit.

Then read the BCOBS stuff and advise on the financial hardship aspects of it cos that IS useful if you don't feel the more legalistic stuff is not for you.

i put the original post on because this reclaiming charges fiasco,is not just about asking for your money back they wrongfully took, its about peoples lives and how they can be helped down the road to the dark place we all know, when your financial situation collapses, worry, anguish and more worry, debt companies hounding you, court letters thru the door, you cant concentrate fully on your life as it is taken up with fighting for charges, worry and in a lot of cases ill health and sever depression caused by worry, banks could stop this happening to hundreds and thousands of people, but they have chosen as a whole to ignore it.the people at the top of the banking chain where the real decisions are made have a massive pool of cash available to them if things go wrong, they have always had a back fall of cash, most individual people have not got that.
bankers at the very top do not see fully the impact on peoples lives through a financial collapse of ther affairs, therefore they cannot judge on it as they probably have never experienced it to the extent many people are doing. as i type this load of old chestnuts into the computer,i wonder how many people are sitting at home staring around ther rooms wondering when the end to there hatred of banks will stop, its the first time i have fealt real hatred towards anything or anyone.(apart from when mike ashley let keegan leave newcastle united) we all make mistakes and are punished or learn by them one way or another, nomatter which way you look at it,bank charges in ther present form are a detremant to society, they are a drain on people, and for what,a letter,an information sheet.CHARGES ARE NOT FAIR,they drain and destroy like a decay through a healthy tooth, but bankers do not feel it so they do not know the pain.................i challenge here and now any banker to justify a continuous charges policy on direct debits, give me your costs and your profits then ill show you the best money making scam in history !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i understand that bank charges are more profitable than drilling for oil or prospecting for gold,no wonder they dont want it to end.

money does grow on trees my dad was wrong.

not sure about that one,the ratio of cost to profit is in favour of bank charges being more profitable and for a lot less effort,i dont see banks building vast machinery and using explosives and transport fleets to cargo a letter
