NatWest cash ISA convert to eISA

I currently have a cash ISA with Natwest but would like to convert it to an e-ISA (I only use the account online anyway). How do I go about doing this, I have the option to apply for it online but I don't know if I will be allowed/whether or not it is within the 'rules'?

On their site it just gives information about transferring from a different provider, I would like to do it 'internally' if at all possible?

Thanks :cheesy:

  • i did this just this week,

I opened the e-isa first online, received some paperwork few days later in post to sign. then i sent the paperwork along with an isa transfer from i got from my branch. account opens a few days later and transfer went ahead about a week later.

you must fill out transfer form though rather than do it yourself online.

in the natwest e-isa FAQs it tells you when opening an e-isa if you are fully subscribed already, like i was, put 1 pound deposit paid by cheque or cash but do not pay it, this allows you to fill out the application.

Just noticed this - why should I fill out the transfer request form 'manually' when I am able to do it online (I assume you mean do it via pen and paper here)?
  • I am doing the same thing, my cash ISA pays next to nothing, so I have opened an e-ISA (2.5%), its showing with nil balance on my online screen. Went to branch today to transfer it, they were out of forms but will post me one.

Fingers crossed its an easy transition and I'll be back to earning interest again

    Don.

I suspect if you just transfer online it won't be an "ISA transfer" which means you'll be using your allowance which you may or may not have already done this year and might not even be enough to allow you to transfer the full amount. Doing a proper ISA transfer is very advisable.
  • What the above poster said, plus you can only subscribe to one cash ISA in any one year.

Thanks again guys, I only ask because the 'print form off' link on the eISA page takes me to a proper Cash ISA transfer request form. When the site tells me to print it off as a PDF, I get taken to the online method called the NWB Cash ISA Transfer Form - I can visit my local branch if need be however.

The online cash isa transfer form IS filled out on your computer but you still need to then print out the completed form and send it in.

    You follow the 1, 2, 3 guide here: http://www.natwest.com/personal/savings/g2/isas/e-isa.ashx

It is the same process for Natwest cash to natwest e-isa as it would be for other bank ISA to natwest e-isa
