I am not a big vodka drinker but I do like Smirnoff Blue Label.
I thought that was an urban myth? I'm not a Vodka drinker though!0 -
You could try Glen's if cheaper is what you want? I quite like it, prefer it over Smirnoff.0

Smirnoff red is nearly always available on offer somewhere. IMo its not worth buying anything cheaper.
Someone mentioned smirnoff blue, that is way to strong for me at 50%.
Smirnoff black is my fav but costs lot more than red.
Not a lover of grey goose0 -
Bargain rzl 's right, if you put it through a water filter 2-3 times it takes the harshness out. Done this a few times and it always tastes better.37 mrstwins squares, 6 little bags, 16 RWB squares, 1 ladies cardi, 4 boobs, 20 baby hats, 4 xmas stockings, 1 scarf, 4 prs wristwarmers0

I go for Glens, I used to work in the off licence trade and I remember many years ago a survey involving 5 kinds of vodka and Smirnoff came out worst with Glens first (or Grants as it was then).
But to be honest as I mix it with coke or red bull I dont think it matters that much.0 -
i personally cannot stand glens - it is not even distilled once and so you are more likely 2 end up horribly hungover as it is such a cheap vodka - distilled is the process of purifying the vodka. that is the same with the basics/smartprice etc type vodkas from the supermarkets, they are not even distilled once either
brand wise red square is a viable alternate or the supermarket's own label vodkas - you can get a litre for about £11 and 1.5 litres for about £17 from tesco, asda, sainsburys - these are tripple distilled and although they are not a brand they are a good option if you do not want 2 splash out for grey goose - my favourite along with the polish vodka Zubrowka0 -
Thanks guys - I've got plenty options to consider now:beer:0

Zubrowka is lovely... it is the only vodka I will have as a shot. Not great for mixing IMHO as it alters the normal taste of for eg vodka & coke BUT with apple juice it is gooood (the apple pie cocktail - yum). However it is expensive in the UK (I live in Poland and it is cheap as chips here - happy times).
I agree with prev poster, Red Square is a good alternative to 'non cheap' vodkas."People buy things they don't need, with money they don't have, to impress people they don't like" - Clive Hamilton on Consumerism.0 -
ALL vodka is distilled - it cannot be called vodka in eu unless it is 37% alc. and no yeast will ferment that strong an alc. concentration.
Vodka is not supposed to taste - this is why some brands are tripple distilled or filtered in order to get any congeners (carp) out.0 -
We normally bring enough Smirnoff back from our holidays to last the year, but when it inevitably runs out we've found Tesco own label (not the value brand) to be a decent alternative. Morrisons used to do a premium one that was really nice, but you'd have to check if they still supply it.0
