Combi Boiler Problem - Pressure too high

Eek!!

I have a 7 year old Baxi combi-boiler and this morning the flame failure light was flashing, so I reset the system as per the manufacturer's instructions. Everything started working again, but I've now just noticed that the pressure guage reading is very high - at around the 3 bars mark. I tried to bleed some water out of the radiators to take this down a bit, which initially did the trick, but now the pressure is rising again!!

Help!

when that happened to me a couple of years ago with my combi-boiler it was the heat exchanger that had cracked. needed replaced and was fine after that.

Hopefully it's something relatively simple to sort. Just having a nightmare trying to find a plumber/heating engineer who isn't booked up into the new year now!

Do you have a filling loop? If so,are you sure its shut off/disconnected? Is there any water coming out of the pressure blowoff outlet (outside)
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

There is a filling loop - it has one of the permanently attached ones, and I have just tightened up the nut on the valve which seems to have slowed the pressure rise a bit, so thank you for that!! :T

Surprisingly, there has been no water coming from the outside overflow/blowoff outlet though. An annoyingly, the 'flame failure' thing has just happened again, so I've just had to reset. Seems there is definitely something wrong!

I'm in West Lothian (Broxburn) which is about 10 miles from Edinburgh.

    Cheers!

Forsooth...you are way too far north for me.....what exact model is it?

If the filling loop looks like a slivery braided flexible hose, then it shouldnt be permanently attached. It should be detached and caps fitted to the valve outlets. there is a slight possibility that the inlet valve is not shut off properly or may be passing a little.

The flame failure may be a separate issue.

if it is the heat exchanger - its not cheap

was £270 to fix a few years ago on a wocester bosch combi

    good luck

hopefully it wont be that and something simple and cheap
