I suspect this is the real answer to this little conundrum. The OP probably had an Accucard or one of the co-branded Accucards (e.g More Th>n, Texaco, Easymoney). I don't have an accucard but it was interesting to read the banking code section 51. Does this mean they have broken the law? Unfortunatley I didn't send the card back in a prepaid envellope as there wasn't one, which annoys me even more now as they even assumed that I wouldn't even send it back!!! Interesting to read that someone else has experienced this too!0
