Unwanted card

Hi!
Has anyone else recently been sent a credit card without actually applying for one? I received one from Lloyds (who I don't even bank with!) telling me that if I didn't want it I should phone them up, cancel the agreement and send the card back!!??? I sent the card back in a million pieces with a stern letter! How did they do this and I dread to think if the card had got into the wrong hands and I would have to convince them that I never had a credit card with them in the first place! I would think I was going mad! I still haven't got an explanation from Lloyds!

i do know that plenty of CC companies are sending unsolicited cards like this to homeless hostel residents.

SCUM is the only word for people in marketing departments who come up with this sort of idea.

    :(
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

    Hi!

I received one from Lloyds (who I don't even bank with!) telling me that if I didn't want it I should phone them up, cancel the agreement and send the card back!? How can you cancel an agreement if you have not made an agreement.

I sent the card back in a million pieces That is a lot of pieces about 10 would have been enough. Did you use a reply paid envelope?
How did they do this and I dread to think if the card had got into the wrong hands and I would have to convince them that I never had a credit card with them in the first place! This should not be difficult as they would need to prove that they did have an application from you.

I would think I was going mad! Stay calm. You are not going mad.

I still haven't got an explanation from Lloyds! Chase them up for an explanation. Good Luck.

This happened to me three years ago. I starting panicking thinking someone had used my details to apply fraudulantly.

I phoned up the CC company only to find that they sent it hoping I would use it or cancel. It had a limit pre-set on it, and I couldn't beleive that they could do this.... if it had been intercepted in the post, anyone could have been using it, and I would have only found out once the bills started to arrive for a CC I had not applied for!!!!

What were the terms of the card? Interesting to see what they are pitching.

I never knew they could do that. That's terrible.

I'd report them to Trading Standards, at least an official organisation would then be aware of Lloyds very dubious marketing tactics

Wonder what would happen if you used it then refused to pay without seeing the signed credit agreement.
You wouldn't be able to get out of it as after all you did use the card which would be considered an implicit agreement but you could delay things.
I suspect they wouldn't be able to enforce any charges.

I have heard of this happening in the US but never here in the UK. That's terrible.
