Talktalk - suggestions for another ISP

Can anyone suggest any decent alternatives to TT?
I've been with TT for some years for phone and now for bband but I am disgusted with their treatment this week.
On Tuesday I spoke with their people who deal with retentions and was missold Talktalk pro on the basis that I could achieve speeds of 12-13 meg and would retain my existing free international calls. I now find from their own website that both are untrue- as the best speed I get now is about 3.5 meg and international calls cost an additional fee. I've now tried to cancel and complain but it seems I can't have confirmation by email for some reason or other- so who knows?
Why is their customer support so bad?
Anyway I'm now thinking about a return to BT but am wondering if anyone can recommend any other phone/bband provider who do not operate like this.

I`m with TT and have been for the last 20 months paying £17-74 for my Essentials package, BB and phone.
I have been very happy with their service and wouldn`t change to anyone else.

Recently I had a letter from BT(I get one a month), my previous phone provider, asking me to return because they miss me.
The upshot was BB at £15 a month and line rental of £11-50.

Now why should I change back to them and pay £26-50 a month for a worse service and not as many benefits.

Stay where you are or regret it.
If you join the TT forums I`m sure your little problem could be sorted out.

Thanks Alared- I will take note of your comments and I have used the TT forum before, which I found very useful.
However, my problem is the lies they used to get me to agree to a new contract, something which I find very offensive- I think they think I'm stupid!

Well I have to agree with you on that but remember, don`t cut your nose off to spite your face.

It does seem to me that you achieve better service through their forum than their own contact centres, which is very odd.
  • i have just posted elsewhere to recommend virgin OR orange. both good service. i have not tried bt ot tt because i have heard horror stories for both providers that put me right off.
