Hi, I did very well a few years back buying rocking chairs ,then painting them with either Farrow & Ball or Laura Ashley paint.I was buying chairs on average for £10-£20.00 and selling for £80-£100.00.I must admit that they always looked very good when freshly painted. This is a very easy way to make money,it may be worth using the old faithful selling technique at first.....stack it high, sell it cheap.

    example:

The theory behind this proven method is it can be better selling 10 items at £50.00 than 1 item at £100.00.Lets say the item costs £15.00 to purchase/paint/sell.

    10 x £50.00 = £500.00 less 10 x £15.00 costs @ £350.00 total
    1 x £100.00 = £100.00 less 1 x £15.00 cost @ £85.00 total

So if you were aiming to sell 10 units of anything per week on these figures, you would have taken £350.00
If you had held out for a higher price and only sold 1 unit on the week, you would have taken £85.00

    Look at the bigger picture.....

    50 weeks at £350.00 a week = £17500.00
    50 weeks at £85.00 a week = £4.250.00

Obviously you would have tax / insurance /costs to deduct too,but you can see where I'm coming from. This is how the big companies work, lets take Tescos, they take 8 billion a year (example figures) there total % of profit is ONLY 10%,but that still equates to 800 million.

I've said it before but a golden rule is " do not get personal with whatever you sell".

    thanks........:hello:

    Good advice bing0, thanks! :T

I am making a start on sorting, categorizing and listing all the unwanted stuff I've got for eBay today, it's hard avoiding the temptation to buy more bulk stuff to sell though, but I've got to until I get rid of all the junk!

iamsammum- I have various pieces around the house that a family member made for me inc console table in the hall and a plate rack, the tables quite basic and just made with leftovers, I could imagine these would sell well, and as it been said you could always paint them up.
I found some bits and bobs in the loft yesterday so am going to do a bit of listing on ebay today after taking DS1 and DS2 out to spend some Christmas money.
Have a good money making day everyone!!!

Can I ask a couple of Bingo Britain questions please?

I have £10 in my cash balance and £5 in my bonus balance, so £15 overall. To withdraw £20 would I need to deposit £5 first, or £10?

I guess what I mean is can any of the bonus balance be withdrawn or only what's in the cash balance?

Also do you get any bonuses for referrals?

    Thanks!

You would need to deposit £10, and then withdraw £20, leaving you with the £5 bonus to play with. Only the cash amount can be withdrawn.

top tip for bingo britain - pre buy your tickets using your bonus balance (provided you dont have a cash balance) so that if you do win, you dont end up losing your bonus balance

    if that makes sense

    Hi JoJoB,

Deposit £10, withdraw £20 thus leaving £5 bonus (which can't be withdrawn), then play through £5 bonus. I have found if you pre-book games with the full bonus. (e.g. 25 games at 20p) then you won't loose any of todays winnings. Does that make sense? I hope so and good luck.

  • It's amazing how the little bits and pieces add up, this year I'm going to keep proper records. Having done Valued Opinions surveys for a while, I realised I had amassed enough in Amazon vouchers for the majority of my Christmas presents this year, just the odd 50 or 75 p here and there adds up surprisingly, and you can buy so much on Amazon. I've even treated myself.

I want to start this on 1st Jan as I will have been babysitting on New Years Eve. The problem is that if the money just goes into my purse or my bank account I somehow don't notice it and it just gets spent on everyday stuff. Can anyone recommend an account that's good for these little bits and pieces, I'm due some expenses from work and am nearly up to £50 on yougov which will be cheques. I could do with something like an old fashioned post office book I used to have as a child! What do you use?

My main ways of getting there will be babysitting, using Amazon for secondhand books etc, village shop window and the local free ad paper - it's very very popular round here and everyone scours it for stuff. I can't get broadband where I live so many of the internet based things are difficult for me to do, VO and yougov are just about ok, ebay far too painful! I also do Royal Mail surveys so have a constant supply of free stamps.

Good luck everyone, this is so motivating!
