  • If you are buying to sell on - that means you should register to pay tax, and I think officially you need a business account? ie you are no longer a private seller selling your clutter.......?

But I can't find anything helpful on the e bay site. I can never find help on their help if you see what I mean!
    Nevertheless she persisted.

couple of things while i've been catching up - beware if selling at fairs and markets you may need a traders licence, check with your local council website.
if selling antiques i would personally take to the auction house get a valuation/estimate of what the item might realise and then some research on the net and approach dealers direct - you have no commission and neither have they. If you put it to auction and it doesnt sell because of the reserve you still have to pay a fee with most auction houses. - dont mean to put a downer on anyone but just want you to be aware of the different options before you make a decision

  • ok, having to earn my £100 to invest but made a good start today.

spend my free scratchcard money on a mini game, won £2 and put that on bingo tickets, won £25.10. Doesn't usually happen but have sent it stright to the bank account to start the pot. Also sold a book on Amazon yesterday (really random, law teacher told us to read it before he got fired for all of us failing, something to do with lizards controlling the world??) dug it out from the depths of the loft and got £7.98 after fees for it so that is on its way to the bank as well.

Have found some wholesale sites that sell pallets of ex catalogue stock, think I m going to have a punt with one of these, most are returns so expecting some to be faulty but OH is a wizz with electronics so should mke a profit even after all the naff stuff has been sorted out.

  • Hi just a thought before peeps buy electrical things. to sell on at bootsales.

i know alot of the bootsales around our area are now not letting people sell electrical items due to safety etc... they have got to have a test cert on them..

so just a thought when you are buying/selling things to check with the bootsales you are thinking of selling in

  • forgot to say, to my great shame am over £60,000 in debt, living in rented property with no furniture other than a sofa, beds and white goods (although no washing machine,it passed away on boxing day), don't drive and have 2 children under 3.

£20000 of that is a loan on a boat, (OH wanted to be a fisherman) between me and him, we are hoping to clear all debt, put a deposit on a house, own a wardrobe, learn to drive and get a car nd take the kids on holiday, all in the next 3 years.

This challenge has come at the right time, was wondering how the hell we were going to do it, but now with the help of this thread, hoping that I will be making headway by the end of the year.

I'm a bit of a lurker on this thread - We did some carboots at Measham last year (its really good, fruit & veg stall, butchers, as well as all the usual rubbish on the carboot stall lol) - and sold an old small tv, a few dvd players, large surround sound system, and a freeview box - they weren't bothered about it being tested thankfully. Though if you were to only sell electrical items and nothing else perhaps they might? If anyone is thinking of doing a carboot I would highly recommend that site anyway

  • Hi Everyone, I would like to join please!

Scrooge has convinced me to join you all, didnt take much convincing as I am totally intrigued.

I don't think that I will be ebaying, I think that I am more likely to sit back for a while and think... and then think some more... and as long as I can come up with a big idea by the end then that should be all fine and dandy.

I am thinking in terms of either writing an e-book or an idea I have for boats which will need researching or both??

    Here's to a lucrative 2010!
  • I have a signed book and a manuscrpt proof book where is the best place to sell these I am selling a couple of others on ebay but not sure about these ones any ideas?
Make £5 a day in May total so far £2
