Hi all - I'm almost certain this has been asked before but I've searched the thread and searched MSE in general, about an hour of reading various posts later, I still can't find my answer! So apologies, but what I want to know is:
If I buy some stuff wholesale and then list it on ebay, do I need to open a new ebay account and register as a business? Or can I sell from my personal account?
    Thank you

Im thinking about making jams and chutneys, does anyone know what the rules are around selling at carboots? Also if anyone knows where I can get some jam jars and lids and things I would be eternally grateful! xx

Ps. I had one sale on amazon today, another £3.50 to add to the pot wahay!

jam jars are really expensive to buy, i know my mum always went on about not re-using lids as the jam/chutney is not properly sealed (gap between jam and lid) and always used the paper circles (cant remember their name!!!) they also look really pretty and probaly would sell at a premium if you put gingham or cath kidson style material round the tops. i dont know the inns and outs of selling at bootsales but have seen them at craft fairs, again selling at £1 a jar done up all pretty, hope this helps

I did it - I set up my very first website! Offering tarot and psychic readings. I used a free web host so [STRIKE]if[/STRIKE] when I make some money out of this I won't even have dipped into the 100 quid :T

I know lakeland sell them, but not cheap..... google catering supply companies as they might stock them. There is one near me and they do 1/2 lb jars for about 50p each. I only ever buy them when I am giving them as gifts to fussy people....the rest of the time I recycle!

Someone on another post mentioned the asda/tesco/morrison cheapo curry sauce that is around the 15p a jar mark (might be cheaper depending on the shop). They used to buy the jars and empty out the contents. Might be worth a look. A bit of a waste of curry sauce but maybe the local chippie might buy the sauce from you?

I don't know about whether people buy them at car boots, I guess thats down to the area. Maybe try some farm shops? Local newsagents/post office?

I love chutney's but does it make the house smell!

I have a recipe for caramalised red onion chutney if you are interested.

know that feeling.... have you managed to get out of your drive yet??

Thanks Mamsbury - We got out last Tuesday, rescued a friend & filled the car with animal feed, but it hasn't been possible since.
This has been like this since well before X Mas, but can't do much about it really.
