I am getting a bit confused, but trying to work out which one is the best. I think my options are Ebay, Play.com or Amazon?
Ebay seems to be 10% plus listing fee.
Play - free for Jan, but thereafter 10% plus an extra 5% withdrawal fee.
Amazon - can't get my head round this. It says:
"If you are looking to sell only a few products or expect to have less than 40 orders a month, click here to sign up as an Individual seller with Amazon which has no monthly fee but instead a per product sold fee of £0.86. "
On top of this 86p do you pay the 17.5% referral fee as well?
    Help please

Amazon also take a portion of the postage depending what you are selling / postage rate. Their fees are quite high but it may suit certain products better than other sites and fair worse on some things. Depends what you are looking to sell. Seems like a case of trying them out and seeing which ones work best for you.

I've just caught up with 2 pages, will you please stop posting so much lol!
Tax wise you can take off any costs (withinreason) so electric, rent if you work from home, council tax, iron and board, car and petrol. Obviously just a small proportion of each say 5%. I'm not 100% sure but defo look into it more or you will be paying to much tax.
I'm self employed as I do Mystery shopping as my day job so I will have to include anything I earn on my tax return.

    Its snowing!

I have a confession- booked in for a hair cut with an apprentice for today for a top-notch salon- paid £12 for an amazing hair cut (dead chuffed) but was naughty! Really fancied a starbucks to perk me up, then saw a big issue guy (i religiously buy this- i know its not necessary but big bro has bipolar schizophrenia and was homeless for a few years so is close to my heart) as i had no change i asked him if he wanted a hot drink and went and bought us both a drink (on my debit card)

A bit naughty but think i saved so much money (usually pay 65-75 min for hair cut and colour) and he seemed really happy (and it has made me smile all day) so im counting it as funds in my happiness bank and well spent.

I am going to count the £40 saved on hair (thats after the coffee splurge and the foray into Lush- I'm weak!) in my total as really pleased. If anyone is from Oxford area I can give you the apprentices no as he asked me to pass it round as he has to complete a certain amount of bookings to pass, plus he was dead good!

    :)

wow! Forget the moeny spent. It probably will help you profit in the long run by boosting your mood and upping your enthusiasm (SP?).

Shame I;m not near your area cos I could do with a good hairdresser that doesn't cost the earth. I;ve not found one that actually does what I want!

    Anyway, back on topic......

Nada on ebay at the moment, I have 16 listing some BIN and some auction.....And I had a delivery of some more stock today that I think I will test some on ebay singley and some as a wholesale lot.

I also had a really good conversation with a possible supplier for my possible online/ebay business selling body jewellry. Does anyone on here have any expereince of body jewellery, either selling or just having piercings themselves? I would love to know as I might need a bit of advice/market research!!

I'm snowed in at the moment, we have about 4 inches and more to come overnight and as I live at the top of the hill I can't get out! The nearest road gritted to me is about 4 miles away! I like being snowed in but the kids are getting to me now after nearly 3 weeks off..... PLease let it melt overnight so the kids can get back to school!

Well, thats it for now..... off to defrost in front of the fire.....

    Keep warm and motivated!

best to double check with HMRC but when OH was SE a few years back you could claim a % against your profit as an expense based on the number of rooms in the property eg we had 4 rooms (3 beds and lounge, they don't count the kitchen or loo) so I claimed 25% of heating and lighting but not mortgage payments. Not totally sure about the rent. You can include broadband fees and phone line (again at a percentage of business use). There are other things you can claim for too.... best check with HMRC to be on the safe side....

Done something stupid but has paid off, with a few heart stopping moments. Signed up to a casino game, only to put ten pounds in and must of hit an extra 0 by mistake.

Anyway couldn't get the hundred back untill i wagered....took a while to play some silly games and made a 300% profit. Lesson to be learnt hear to look at the bloomin screen and not the keyboard.

You my friend, were VERY lucky..... Something like that would not have paid off for me! I am the worlds worst gambler!!!
