Just curious as to how much profit you look to make on items you buy? Is doubling your money good or not enough? If you buy something for £6 say and sell it for £8 would you be pleased or disappointed?

I think it depends, some would same the time and effort isn't worth the £2.00 others will say its £2.00 more than what you started with. I'd be happy with any profit but naturally the more the better.

Not one for me, don't know enough about the stuff. But for you lot who carboot my local poundland (and therefore I assume other poundlands ) has a number of brand name makeup products.

What comes to mind is that I saw 3x Rimmel lipsticks packed together for a quid - there has to be a profit there.

Personally, I think a burly bloke selling makeup at a carboot would look a little, shall we say, odd.....

:rotfl:that made me giggle:rotfl: i have seen 'burly blokes' selling all sorts at bootsales:rotfl:

In all honesty, as I have never done anything like this before I am looking at the first 3 months as a learning experience. My aim is to find something that works within that time. During this phase I will look at breaking even being ok, any profit will be a bonus. Doubtless some items will do well and I will crash and burn on others.

After that, I would hope to double my money

Just go for it moneymabel, a profits a profit and you might be suprised. £2 profit isnt much but 10 a day is £140 a week, £560 a month etc, it all adds up!

Just found an old Habitat voucher which I have been meaning to cash in for ages and had the most mahoosive clear out of our front eaves ever known. I have some ebay stuff, some NCT sale stuff, a charity pile, a bin pile, a recycle pile and a pile for my sister (stuff for her impending pregnancy). If feels sooooooooo good :D My stuff on ebay is all listed as Buy It Now and unfortunately I had to relist stuff today so I lowere the prices a bit. I have sold one book so far and am keeping up with my 5 reviews a day and rating as many as I can on DooYoo. So far so good.

ETA:just had a good sale on ebay!! OK. Im only going to list the amount Ive made in my sig when its actually in my bank account. I have to wait for my paypal to reach £50 then I can transfer it over. Ths same with Doo Yoo - Ill wait for the cheque to clear in my account. Saying that Im roughly £20 in credit (after fees/postage etc). Have loads on ebay so Im hoping this will increase steadily over the next week *is a bit happy to be off the starting blocks*

Thanks to all of you for your replies. I'm of the opinion that any profit is good however small! I will be treating these first transactions as practice so just hope I don't lose anything :-/
