Towel radiator is always cold

Hey, i wonder if someone could help me
I have a problem with the radiator in the bathroom, it is always cold even when the central heating system is on. Was alright in the summer but now every morning it is freezing in there and also late for work as i stay in the shower longer than i should. The pipes connecting the radiator are also cold :snow_grin.
The radiator was just a cheap one from b&q fitted in two years ago. On the website it says 'Central heating protector must be used' and it wasn't used.
Any simple way to fix this, preferably not to replace the pipes beneath the floorboards since the surround floors are tiled.
thanks

make sure the values are set to open, do you have a TRV installed, maybe that is stuck in the close position
also might be worth getting a protector put into your central system, it will stop the radiators from messing up from the inside.0 -
maybe check to make sure there is no air in the radiator either.0

no TRV just standard towel rail valves.
tried bleeding it, but just drips water so i think theres no air in there.0 -
don't think anyone has closed them, but i will make sure, stupid question but what direction do i turn it to open it?

The valves should open anti-clockwise, without seeing the system i would 1st plump for a air-lock.0 -
Close all the other rads and put the heating on, this should blast any airlocks out and then bleed the rail again.0

an update on this, tried bleeding rail, all valves are open no luck.
so i've tried to take the rail down, and cleaned the inside, lots of rubbish in there, fixed it back up, and bleed the rail then put the central heating on, the inlet pipe got warm then some noises come from the oulet hole, then its back to being cold again.
do you think it could be my rail or worse the outlet pipe could be blocked?0 -
Could just be not getting enough flow because other rads are taking the main heat.
Or a block in the return in the valve.
Could also just be a bad radiator.Not Again0 -
Our radiator/towel rail in the bathroom is fed by the hot water supply to the taps, not from the heating radiator circuit. This means that it dries towels in the summer when the heating system is turned off and only the running hot water to the taps is in use.
When you run the hot taps (kitchen or bathroom) for a few minutes, the radiator warms up and takes the dampness off the towels, staying warm for some time after the flow has stopped.
If yours is the same, then no messing with the other radiators will mend the problem.
Does it get warm when you run the taps for a bath or shower?0 -
Radiator taking heat off the DHW??? Thats a new one on me.. How does the loop work?
Are you sure its not just a 2nd CH loop - which somehow only gets triggered when the DHW supply is activated?0 -
arghhhhh help
ive taken the thing apart again gave it a good clean on the radiator, and on the inlet pipes by attaching a hose to the in pipe and letting it clean, now the problem i now have is that the filling knob for the boiler has been turned too much and wont turn off, so now i have the hose just streaming water non stop.
how can it turn it off, the knob is supposed to go clockwise to turn off but the knob just slips0
