Upgraded, can i change my mind?
Any Help greatfully appricated.
I've just upgraded my phone instore at carphone warehouse. I kinda got talked into doing it there and then (screaming baby didn't help my concentration). I've now looked online and could have got a better deal somewhere else. Would I be able to take it back and cancel my contract or do i have to keep the upgrade.
I haven't done anything with the phone but the box is opened as they put it on for me instore.
I also got insurance but i'm not sure whether i can get phone insurance somewhere else cheaper. Any ideas?
Thanks
Charlie

You did it instore so there is no cancellation. I do believe a lot of operators do not allow cancellations of upgrades at all anyway. To be honest it is nearly always cheaper somewhere else online. You can try returning to the store but you are likely to be told no, sorry.
If it was done online strangely you can cancel the upgrade http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/support/orders-deliveries-returns/returns-returnspolicy , but there is no mention about upgrades done in store. Check any paperwork you received with the new upgrade.
As to the insurance you can cancel it according to the policy, some have a minimum 4 months but most can be cancelled for free within 7-14 days, or when given 30 days notice.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

unless the upgrade is with Talkmobile then you cant cancel it.
If its with Vodafone, Talkmobile or virgin you can swap the handset for a different one if thats what your not happy with.

Upgrading over the phone you are aloud to return it under the DSR ( Distance Selling Regulations) as you havent seen the phone you are getting.
But instore you are seening what you are getting. Therefore no DSR period.
But usually you find when you upgrade, within a few weeks there will be a better more appealing deal out there. Just the way the cookie crumbles suppose.0 -

Thanks for your help. Bloody stupid i am! I normally do it online but i kept changing my mind and not doing it so i just went for it today. I know for in future, it's not the worst contract just i'd like to change it, oh well.
Thanks for your help.
Another question: can i get mobile phone insurance from somewhere else? It's £8.99 a month with Carphone Warehouse
Thanks again0 -
Sure you can, check your contract and see when you can cancel the insurance.
Best place to check is the price to add it to your home insurance.
2ndly, use this MSE Mobile Insurance Guide - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/cheap-mobile-phone-insuranceAlthough no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

I'm not sure you can. Your upgrading an existing contract not taking out a new one. DSR don't apply to existing contracts. Although you ties yourself in for a new minimum term it's a change to the existing contract, not the formation of a new one, hnce DSR doesn't apply
Some places will still give you that 14 day period if ordered by phone / web but they don't have to .0 -
dsr period does apply to upgrades. if it didnt. my job would be a whole lot easier!( i work for tmobile's rede/dsr team..........)does my bum look big in this sig?0

That is an (inaccurate) sweeping statement.
It depends how it is processed by the network (and retailer) involved, and by your statement I assume that T-Mobile treats it as a new contract rather than extending an existing one (which would not come under DSR).0
