Hi as title says I posted an item on the 24th November to Northern Ireland recorded delivery. The buyer tells me it hasn't arrived and have checked the track and send service and it says it is being processed through the network?. The question is should I refund the buyer? should I make a claim through the post office? I bought the item as a present for £9.99 but it was unwanted sold for £20.00 the post office will only give me £9.99 won't they?
Should I ask the buyer to wait a few more days? or should I refund now?

I'd refund them now as its been 16 days (you can do your RM claim after 15). Recorded delivery has a high failure rate so it wouldn't surprise me if its never updated. You may get the full amount for your RM claim its a bit of a lottery0

Thanks for that I have sent a lot of items second class recorded recently some taking 16 days to arrive not sure weather should leave it a couple more days.0

I'd refund right away and then put in a claim with the RM.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

Isn't it 15 WORKING days with RM, so 3 weeks?
I think it's the £9.99 you'll get as the refund.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

I was thinking the same
I have it in all my listing I do not issue refunds for 15 working days
Some people dont like it and go to paypal which I let run it cause as they can clearly see what the refund policy isdont do weight loss i do size losssize loss nearly out of a 22
now in a size 20 :T :T :T0 -
You can't expect a buyer to wait 15 days for an item to arrive. You should refund the buyer and then claim yourself from the RM after 15 working days.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

When speaking to the bloke in the local sorting office (a parcel I was expecting took a very long time) I was told it's 15 days flat (or 14 as you can claim on the 15th). When talking to the seller they said they understood it as working days only, but accepted Saturday as a working day for the RM (especially given posties do work Sundays, just don't deliver Sundays, at least round here.)Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

RM do state 15 working days. If RM work on a Sunday well thats fine.
I do think a buyer should be able to wait 15 days as we all know about delays and heavy Christmas post etc.
If they do a Paypal claim it will take longer overall for them to be refunded if you wait out the process so a little patience is worthwhile.
How many times have you refunded a buyer who then kindly emails to say it finally arrived and heres your money back. In my case never in 10 years.0 -
A working day is defined as 'a day other than a Saturday or Sunday on which clearing banks are normally open for business in the City of London'.0

Maybe because it didn't arrive. As a buyer I would never be happy to wait for 15 days for a refund. If I have to go for a dispute to get money back thats an instant neg.
As a seller I would never expect my buyers to wait that long either0
