I got my letter today, and made my appointment they had Christmas eve or new years eve available!
So its on NYE, Do they give you a result there and then? Or do you have to wait? How long can you expect to wait for a result?
Is there anything I should bring to my appointment?

They dont give you a result there and then as they dont actually make the decision on entitlement to benefit. How long you wait depends on where you are and how busy they are. Expect it to be at least a month though it can be quicker and often longer.
You can bring details of any medication to your medical. Any doctors reports etc. would be best going to DWP in my opinion.0 -
They will write to you to confirm the appointment and in that letter they will tell you what you need to bring. As well as medication etc they will ask you to bring the letter and some form of ID.0

Id say to them that neither christmas eve or new years eve is appropriate.0

Always take someone with you and has it new years eve nobody wants to go with you so get it postponed. I had my WCA on the 29th September and got awarded 15 points on mental health and that I should recover and be fit for work in a year. the whole medical report was a joke but has I got enough points it is not worth complaining over. And because I was placed in the Work related activity group I had to attend a second on the 3rd November called the WFHRA which is to write a report for my JC Personal Adviser, this was even a greater joke, the so called professional said that I should be self employed and start work in a few weeks. What rubbish and a waste of public resources. My first work focused interview at the Jobcentre was in the middle of september before the medicals, I had another at the end of october and got it postponed till the new year(yet to hear from them again) due to going to hospital twice a week for my psorasis (skin disorder) light treatment, this has not worked so in the new year I will probably be on tablets. When the next appointment letter comes I will try and postpone it again. Have these goons not realised it yet is that I have never had paid work, I am on DLA, never got work after participating in numerous Employment service schmes like New Deal.0

What a joke!
My Fiance suffers from Psoriatic Arthritis and have been on injections and medication for this condition for the last 20 years.
He still manages to work as a Post Man, walking 8 miles a day.
You are using your condition as an excuse not to work and its the taxpayers that are funding you.Robert_Hopkins wrote: »Always take someone with you and has it new years eve nobody wants to go with you so get it postponed. I wish to say to busterlin that she/he has no clue about my disability which is a combination of Developmental Dyspraxia (which impedes hand to eye co-ordination, makes the person clumsy and has limited social skills), 80% psorasis, Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, sinusitis, rhinitis, psoratic externa ottis media and panic attacks. I get Disability Living Allowance Care Component.
He may have been successful in gaining work but he is a exception to the rule.
I have signed on for JSA for nine years done various voluntary work activities and work placements, the Disability Employment Advisers have tried everything to no success. Even they accept that employers need to change their practices to enable people like me to gain employment and the DEA`s have constantly raised my case with employers, but they say I do not fit in on the quiet. Since July I had to go on the new Employment and Support Allowance since my conditions have deterioriated to the extent that my panic attacks and ear and balance problems are limiting my availbility to get out and about due to overwhelming fear and anxiety. Not many employers will consider me. I do not think. My advice to you is to know your facts before making assumptions. THANK YOU.0 -

It may or may not be the right thing for him to do...Only time will tell!
I am not keen on posts like this!........Peoples conditions vary and people are not the same............And their is nothing clever about working if you are not fit enough......You could well be costing the tax payer lots more money and putting more stress needlessly on our overworked NHS in the long run, if he is making his condition worse...And .Not to mention making his collegues look bad,
I did exactly the same when i was young, before i was married............Now i realised i should have listened to people at the time.Child of a Fighting Race.0
