I understand that teletext will disappear from the TV options in a few days and I wondered if anyone knew why and if anything will take its place.

Because it's obsolete Analog service & has already been replaced by a digital version.0

'Teletext', as opposed to teletext, is leaving ITV's (and Channel 4's) screens on 15 December. This applies to analogue and digital versions.
Teletext took over from Oracle nearly 20 years ago, but can no longer attract enough advertising to sustain themselves.
BBC will continue with their versions on all platforms.RIP independent MSE.

Teletext (the company) has loads of stuff going on, car, holiday sales etc and are still around, just that they're stopping their 'teletext' service on the analogue channels (I think this means ITV, Channel4 and five) but Ceefax is still about. Some people have already had their analogue signals switched off anyway. Press red on lots of digital channels to get the freeview replacement (definately on BBC and C4, and lots of the old page numbers still work too, like 360 for Motorsport on BBC!).0

Does anyone know how to get teletext on tiscali tv ?? Just realized in the Granada area, we dont have the analogue signal any more but cant find digital teletext !!!!0

Just to make sure it'll work, goto BBC 1. You should get a message top-right saying press red or something similar? Press the red button and the interactive will load. Similar should happen on Channel 4 but they don't have a message top-right for it. This is how it works on Freeview & Freesat anyway.0
