I simply posted an oppinion on an OPEN forum I'm no where near an "expert" although I have learned a thing or two in the three years nearly of being here as well as now going a bit further with CAB debt advisor training..because I wanted to give something back for what I received here

here's an idea......why dont you PM me with your real user name and we can talk off forum

For what its worth,IMHO when people have delved into why they have been refused for these accounts its not usually been the BR-more often not on the voters roll, not applied in branch(barclays) and such like...

Millie....nobody ticks anyone off here the whole idea why I and many more stick around after bankruptcy is to learn from each other and try to support one another when the times needed and pass on the things we learn.

No need for apology...as I said in PM's its sorted now :D

Im sure there are specialist websites that cater for this particular inclination my dear....:rotfl:
  • I've had quite a bad expereince with Cardone. I opened an account a couple of weeks before I went BR, it looked ideal as being able to manage my finances, which is one resson I am in my mess and having a pre paid card, no dosh on the card, no spending, also they said they there would be a DD facility in January . It took an age for the passwords, cards and pin to come. Two days before the BR hearing I had no pin and thought, oh eck, how I am going to get my BR fee. I found out I could take out cash at Natwest. So I loaded my card with £500 and off I went to Natwest, they day before my hearing. The lady tried to put the transaction through but it was declined which put me in a real tizz. Phoned Cardone and they said is because I had £500 on the card but there was a £3.50 transaction fee, was a little annoyed but thought at least the system works and I can only spend cash to hand. Sorry this is a long story.

Went back into Natwest and took out £495 which was OK, bizarre that they used one of those old style card machines, you know with a piece of tracing paper with Carbon copy which they put in the machine and slide across.

Went to court, paid fees and was adjudged BR. Next day I went to get some shopping for the weekend. I had loaded the card with an extra £150 which went OK. Got to the tills, £30 of groceries and the card was declined. Blind panic and that horrible palpatation feeling i had pre BR took over me. When I got home I called Cardone. I was told that my card was 'overdrawn'! Natwest had put the transaction through twice so I had nearly £1000 go off the card, when there was on £500 on it. As you can imagine I wasn't happy, I got this account so I couldn't spend money I didn't have, Cardone said it was Natwest's fault, I said the second transaction shouldn't have been authorised as there were no funds on the card. They said it would be rectivied ASAP, but as it was Friday they could do nothing until Monday, which left me with no cash, food or fuel.

The money went back on my card on Monday. I said I wasn't happy this had happened. The T&C's with Cardone state you can close the account within 14 days of activating the carddouble checked this with the guy on the phone but he said that was incorrect and it's 14 days from opening the account. A slight argument took place until the guy said hold the line, then came back and said yes you are right, it is from card activation. Was also told that the DD facility would be more likely in Feb/March now.

I called on the 14th day from activation to cancel the account. They understood why, tried to hard sell me by offering one months fee refund (£12.50). I kindly declined and asked where my £30 opening fee would be deposited and was told I wouldn't get it as I had gone over the 14 days. I explained I was right but was told i had activated the card on 18 November, I said no it was 25 November, hold the line please sir, sorry sir your right.

So as you can see it wasn't the best experience, and that was just banking with them for 2 weeks!
