  • Kazipoo - I did try rocky road the other week, but most of it crumbled. Was delicious though, might try again today. I'm limited with time as I work (plus take it home to do in evenings!), have a 3yr old and don't finish work until Christmas Eve.

Jollymummy - no we don't have a Home Bargains unfortunately!

Have you never heard the saying it's the thought that counts??!! Judging by the amount of people on Poundland, then that's a lot of cheapskate and nasty presents..........including some for my daughter!!

I didnt say all pondland stuff was crap but chocs are perfume are!

Its really horrible to receive something that isnt nice i dont agree its the thought that counts, i would see it as a waste of a quid! I wouldnt give or would think of something else even offer to do something for them.

You did ask! I wouldnt like to receive chocs from poundland so i wouldnt give them!

  • red devil - I'm sorry, I just disagree!

I've already said I'm going to taste the chocolate to make sure it's not disgusting.

Thank you for everyones helpful suggestion.

As it happens Claire, the Baileys truffles only take about ten mins to make!!! Its a win-win if you ask me lol

Just doing the cream cheese truffles now, sooooo simple, some cream cheese mixed with some sugar, add chocolate and a flavouring, shove in fridge for an hour, roll into balls and cover.... simples!!:D

  • Americans do this thing called chocolate bark which is really easy - melt some chocolate, stir in nuts or dried fruit or flavourings (whatever you like or have to hand), spread on a baking tray to set and then break up into chunks, put into cellophane bags and tie with nice ribbon...voila!

I agree with the nice comments! Poundland is great shop and they sell branded chocolates too! Today i picked up 2 Terrys chocolates oranges, 2 small boxes of Malteasers and 2 small boxes of After Eights! Nothing wrong with them! I do admit that some of the unknown brands im not so fussed on! But I DO AGREE WITH EVERYONE ON THE FACT THAT ITS THE THOUGHT THAT COUNTS NOT HOW MUCH YOU SPEND!
red devil where is your Christmas spirit? Maybe change your name to The Grinch?

  • As a teacher, I've received alot of cheap chocolates in my time but tbh, it IS the thought that counts, and I don't always eat them, but still appreciate the fact that the parents and children have thought about me at an expensive time of year, I always see it as very kind to get a card or small token off them as at the schools I've taught at the teachers usually get forgotten at christmas and gifts are not usually given (not that I think they should be anyway, we are just doing our job!).

Anyway, I actually managed to get Thorntons Chocolates (Classic, Diabetic and Continental) from my local Thorntons outlet for around 97p a bag for my parents Christmas hamper, and I am going to put them in something then wrap them in cellophane and stick a bow on them!

I have to agree that more expensive doesn't always have to taste the best - we bought christmas chocolate bars and lollies from Lidl recently and all our family love the taste! You get so much more for your pennies and they are beautifully wrapped.l
