Warmfront is available to anyone claiming DLA including families with disabled children but dont get your hopes up, though many people have benefited from there help.

Many of the poor do indeed get raw deal. There are various reasons for this, bad credit rating, debt or lack of information on whats best deal, not everyone unfortunately is savvy
Many of the cheap tariffs are for internet accounts so anyone who isn't aware of this or can't get access to a computer may be disadvantage.
You can easily get net access for free these days from local libraries which may help some people are agile and able to get to there library
As for bad credit ratings I can understand the reasoning why companies dont want to let some customers with credit, after all bills need to be paid. But I do feel sorry for some as sometimes its through no fault of there own.0 -
Its not just in receipt of DLA if you are in receipt of certain benefits you may get some help. Unfortunately the money available will not go to cover for full central heating systemWarmfront is available to anyone claiming DLA including families with disabled children but dont get your hopes up, though many people have benefited from there help.

You don't have to be a householder. I rent my property and I applied for help from warm front. They came out and did an assesment of our property, decided they could do cavity wall insulation and top up the loft insulation.
They contacted our landlord for his permission and it was done about a fortnight later.
I receive DLA and IB and my partner works f/t

I don't usually contribute, but I'm appalled by the insensitive remarks about 'meddling socialists' made by C_Mababejive, who is warmly tucked into bed with Nietzsche. Almost by definition a 'society' should endorse the notion 'From each according to his means, To each according to his needs.' Fine to argue against this noble intent on the grounds that it doesn't work - that for the greater good of the greater number we need incentives - capitalism. But we should not rejoice in human inadequacy as C_Mababejive seems to do. I hope there are not too many on the site who share his/her views. Good luck to everyone who needs help with their heating bills.0

From directgov
Disability Living Allowance - sometimes referred to as DLA - is a tax-free benefit for children and adults who need help with personal care or have walking difficulties because they are physically or mentally disabled.
How much do you get?
Disability Living Allowance has two parts called 'components':- a care component - if you need help looking after yourself or supervision to keep you safe
- a mobility component - if you can't walk or need help getting around
No mention help with heating
If you get higher rate and have a mobility car the mobility component would be taken all up to pay for car. Whats left may be care component which could also be taken upLilacPixie wrote: »Not wanting to start an argument but I thought DLA specifically was to help pay for increased costs associated with your disability??0 -
Lets hope that you dont get a disability or become ill one day
I am sure your views will change if it did indeed happen.
The whole point of advocating cheaper energy for some is they may be on a very low income, of have health issues which may mean they may need more heating to help them.C_Mababejive wrote: »Oh dear..i can see a case building now for certain groups to get cheaper electric and Gas than the rest of us. Then "the rest of us" will pay more to make up the difference so we will not be able to afford to use it and we will just have to sit in the dark/freeze.
This is what Socialism is all about you see.
Gas and electric companies are commercial organisations, not philanthropic societies.0 -

This is what the government says; but it doesn't. Some of us have to use our money to pay for the extra costs; as DLA isn't enough.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
