Home Hub Gaming Issue

Hello, I have BT broadband and have recently encountered a problem where the BT Home hub firewall does not allow me to access one of my playstation 3 games online (Fifa 10). There have been a number of possible work arounds to try (Port Forwarding etc) which have all so far failed to work. It is a well known issue that the BT home hub conflicts with this game for no reason.

I am unhappy that i am paying BT a very high amount of money a month compared to other providers and in effect they are providing me with a service that i am not happy with currently.

I have not spoken with BT yet but i was wondering if anyone has had any similar problems and can advise where i stand (i.e. if the situation is not resolved, could i cancel my contract without penalty)

    Looks like EA use there own ports and servers.

    Have you tried disabling the firewall on your home hub and connecting your PS3 to it ?

    Sorry to jump in, but I dont know why they dont do something similar to the XBL assignment in the Hub.

    Pick the connected 360 assign XBL service and game on...

    Also have you got uPnP enabled on the home hub ?

    If not enable it.

    I have tried many things to try to make my Fifa 10 game work 100% correctly, that has not included enabling unpnp but i will look into this.

    Hi Bootsy. Thank you for your email. I have tested your line and I can confirm that all looks ok at our end. In this case I would kindly ask you to try port forwarding by logging into the Hub manager http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=25910 and update this via the settings tab. Also, have you tried to contact Fifa Support about this matter? There should be contact information on the back of the Fifa manual.

    Please let me know how you get on with this.

  • The Hubs dont work with anything which needs you to log in, i could never play steam games on the PC because of my hub
  • I have the same problem with Fifa 10 on the PS3 and the Homehub. There was a similar problem with Fifa 09, but once you sorted out the ports it worked fine. This isn't the case with Fifa 10. I have read up and followed various bits of advice, both from BT and EA and this has not solved the problem.

    From reading online it seems it is the same for everyone who plays this game via the Homehub.

    Surely this kind of problem should enable me to cancel BT's service with no cancellation service as their homehub isn;t fit for purpose as I cannot play this game.

    Is it possible to sue another router with BT other than the Homehub, which I must admit I have had no end of problems with.

    A lot of ISP's dont support on .line gaming.When I was at Sky,I used to get call's from gamers wanting this & that done to improve their gameing & did'nt like it when I told them the was nowt I could do.
  • BT say they do support PS3 online gaming. Thats what was told to me when I signed up. This isn't the case. Surely I should be able to cancel without penalty as they cannot support this game.
