• Yes, I will ask E.On when I can get through to someone there who knows.

In the meantime, if anyone reads this here and can help me with real information, I would be grateful.

Regards.

Hi BillBrum

Economy 10 is for customers with storage and water heating only. If this applies to you then it may be of interest.

Your meter will need replacing and there may be extra wiring work needed to link into the necessary circuits. I'm afraid I'm not very technical BillBrum and would suggest you have a word with our metering people to see if you are eligible.

If you are, prices will depend on certain criteria like area, payment method, whether single or three phase and how the meter is wired through your circuitry.

Might be an idea to send an email through our website; there is a link in my Personal Profile.

Sorry I can't be more specific but hope this points you in the right direction.

Hi all,

I have just moved to Eon E10 tariff aprox 2 months ago.

FYI, many people benefit who have the horrible storage heaters! which includes myself. Basically it gives the heaters and water 3 extra hours of charge throughout the day. The main benefit is that it splits the hours up, you get 5 hours in the early hours of the morning, 3 hours in the afternoon and 2 in the evening!

This is exactly what everyone needs, with storage heaters! E7 Tariffs mean you heat the horrible storage heaters all night and then they run out mid afternoon! For people who work all day 9-5 etc it is exactly the opposite to what you need. My personal opinion is all E7s should be scrapped and people given E10 as standard.

The tariff with E10 at Eon is not the most competitive however, 7p off peak (storage heaters) and 14p day. There is also a 23p a day charge. But you cant beat being warm!!!! This tarrif has improved our heating ten fold! We are now no longer looking to move house.

The only other issue I am having is Eon themselves. Nobody at the company understands E10 or how to bill it! I have had 6 phone conversations with Eon guys who cant understand why I have 3 readings: a night, a day and a boost! I have told them many times how am I supposed to understand it if you cant! They are due to call me back today.

In closing, E10 is the best tarrif for people with electric storage heating by far! If you want to be warm and dont mind paying a little bit more than E7!

Hi Fulls

I'm sorry you've had difficulties with our agents when calling about Economy 10.

Although this tariff is a bit of a hybrid, it is still billed through our general accounting system in the same way as the more widespread single rate/Economy 7 plans.

Let me know if you continue to have problems as will be happy to help. Drop an email to the address in my Profile if you prefer.

EON Tier 2 rate including VAT, DD and dual fuel discount

FixOnline 4 8.2p from October 2009
FixOnline 8 7.85p from April 2010
SaveOnline 4 is 7.55p inc VAT, currently available.

(for my post code, naturally)

That's 24 hours a day, no special meter, no re-wiring, no timer everywhere, and certainly no 14p a kWh! The E10 is not even a fixed rate.

At 0.55p extra, 10,000kWh is £55 more for heating with SaveOnline 4 during winter, but you are saving 14-7.55=6.45p at day rate for the whole year! Even if you only use 1,000kWh at day rate, that's £64.50 savngs a year.

At 20,000/2,000 kWh, you gain £110, but lose £129 with E10.

You are re-arranging your life around these stupid timers, for no gain at all. On top of that, you have limited your ability to switch suppliers by having a funny meter.

Which region are you in? Is your meter a radio teleswitch or time switch meter? Do you have 1 or 2 MPAN's for the meter on your bill?

Hi Heather59

Economy 10 times can vary by meter and area but these are the most common.

2.30am to 7.30am
1.30pm to 4.00pm
10.00pm 12.30am

If you email your details to the address on my profile, I can check your times for you :)
