Car Refund

Have a read of the sale of goods act 1979 (as amended), if I remember correctly and motor trader (Whether trading from home or a main dealer) has to warranty any car they sell (unless for scrap) for a minimum of 6 months and you have the right to expect the car to fit for purpose. It does depend on what sort of car and how much you paid and what the issues are but you should expect the gearbox to work.
It doesn't seem to matter whether you buy a car from a dealer trading from home or a main agent, they are all conmen. I once bought a Jaguar S-Type R from a main Jaguar dealer that wasn't even registered in this country, it had come from Northern Ireland and at that time (not sure if its changed now), cars from other there were registered differently. They didn't give a stuff and I had to sort it out myself.
Have a read, establish your position and then be firm but polite with them. They already know their legal position but most motor traders rely on being able to tell people to F off and people not having the confidence or the knowledge to do anything about it.I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling

Have a look here for a start (but not if your Audi TT is affected by road camber!)
