Assuming you have a Windows PC - it is likely to be XP, Vista or Windows 7

If you right click on the "My Computer" icon and click properties it will tell you there.

Can you connect the laptop to the router to save you using your dongle?

EDIT - probably should have asked earlier but what is the make and model of the laptop?

So the notebook doesn't have an ethernet port?

You should be able to go to "Start>Settings>Network Connections>" and in the box on the top left there is a "Create a New connection" wizard

  • would be nice to know make and model of notebook so we know what we are talking about, there should be a label underneath the notebook telling you.

Is the "wireless" turned on - switch is on the[STRIKE] back[/STRIKE]front [STRIKE]left[/STRIKE] I think

There is also an ethernet port front left under a small flap

Did you switch the wireless switch on the front on?
Then use the network connection wizard

You will need the security details of your bt Hub to be entered as some point
