Just a small note on public transport. The 220Kr ticket available at the airport kiosk includes everything. This means you can get the airport bus as well as unlimited travel on metro and trams. So, cheap as the minibus service is, it still cannot compete with this deal as there is nothing extra to pay. As long as you are within the 72 hours the return trip will be included too. If you are there for more than 3 days, the 7 day ticket is only 280Kr.
The best thing about transport in Prague is that it is so frequent. Metros run about every 3 mins, and trams run one after another. The trick is to get around longer distances by metro, and use the trams from the stations to get exactly where you need to be. And go to the castle by tram for excellent views of the city.
The taxi drivers have a bit of a dodgy reputation in Prague, but I promise you will never need one. And while we're on "dodgy" you must beware of pickpockets and thieves on public transport. They are usually the Roma gypsies who make this their career, and the locals and police are very aware of them. But to the uninitiated they can be hard to spot at first.0 -
