Thinking about booking a short break to Prague in Feb, can get flights for £87 for 3 of us:j

2nd ? can anyone recomend a nice hotel in the city
3rd? what is there to see and do.
4th? how much would a taxi cost from the airport to city center.

Hi Plumb1 - 'fraid it will be cold but no more so than here
I've stayed here before and enjoyed it:
http://www.hostelumelounu.cz/en/?menu=rooms
They have chalet style apartments that might be worth a look. Check out the links on that site for information on Prague itself.
The taxis in Prague have a poor reputation; public transport is cheap and reliable - there is a bus from immediately outside the airport that takes you to a metro station that will get you into the city centre. Offhand can't remember the specifics but I've got them written down somewhere if you need them.0 -

Thanks for the reply, dont realy want a hostel, after i little bit more luxury 3* hotel min.
I will stay away from the taxi then, i have heard that they do a 3 day pass for public transport, can these be bought from the airport?A thankyou is payment enough .0 -
There's a kiosk at the front of the airport that sells travel passes (3 days is 220 czk) then you want bus 119 - the staff at the kiosk will be able to confirm this - which takes you to Dejivica metro station; I'm pretty sure that's the end of the line so there is only one way to go from there.0

CEDAZ Minibus Service
Private transport to any destination in Prague (hotel, private address, etc.), in the Czech Republic, and in Europe; the service runs 24-hour a day; fares differ based on distance but are cheaper than a taxi.
CEDAZ fares paid for transport to and from the Airport:
480,- CZK - A group of 1-4 persons/one destination in the city center
960,- CZK - A group of 5-8 persons/one destination in the city center
960,- CZK - A group of 1-8 persons/one destination outside the city center
that is total price and very reliable!!! you just book it at the reception when you arrive at the airport.love you lots like jelly tots

Hi we went this Feb it was cold but not as cold as England and wet! I agree with the Cedaz. We stayed in the hotel VENEZIA, 3 star, close to the centre, go to tripadviser for reviews. My main tip however would be to take a walking tour of prague as soon as you get there as it would really help you to get your bearings and enjoy the city more unlike us who kept getting lost and walking round in circles. Febs a great time to go to enjoy the food as its all stews and dumplings which was lovely in the cold weather, (beer is brilliant too)But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more0 -
If you are looking for a bargain hotel go to https://www.ba.com and look at hotels. During Feb there is 3 nights for the price of 2 offer on the Ibis Praha Karlin hotel. It's a 3* and whilst on the map it may look a bit out of town I can assure you it isn't.
Due to the excellent public transport system it takes no time to get in and out of the city. This is hotel is seconds walk from both the metro and tram lines.
At £92 for 3 nights it is the best value around.
ps - I stayed here last year so this is not second hand information
Have fun, it's a great city.....0 -

Thanks, just had a look, it has an offer on @£40 p/night, book 3 pay for 2, but the discount isn't applying, should only be £80 good offer.

Hi - I went to Prague this year for Valentines. It's extremely cold but the mulled wine keeps you going - I really think this is the most beautiful city I've ever seen and my husband and I had the most wonderful long weekend. we stayed in the Holiday Inn Express which was fab value at about £50 per night, the room was great, clean and modern. The breakfast was substantial and best of all it was a 10 minute walk to the central tourist areas of Prague. Really couldn't fault the location or hotel.
I really hope you enjoy this city as much as I did - I'm v. jealous and if I get my own way may even be there at the same time!
