Caution - Homeworking Scam

Think we have been conned by a homeworking scam advertised in the local paper for stuffing envelopes. We paid £30 for a membership and were promised lots of envelope stuffing work.
After 2 months of this not appearing we phoned and asked for our money back, we were assured if we returned the card we would be refunded. We have done this and received nothing.
Please be aware of this scam so you dont get caught like we did - the company is advertising as A1 Mailing and Typing Services.
If anyone has received any work or their money back from this company please let me know!!!

you should never have to pay to work.0

Stop for one minute.
Did you honestly think that it would be cheaper for a company to pay you to stuff things into envelopes rather than using an automated machine? From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
I can only guess that the fact you refer to yourself as "we" is why you were taken in by an online scam.
I find it bizarre that anyone with internet access could ever be taken in by adverts pretending to offer "home working".

The fact that there were two of them doesn't make any difference.I find it bizarre that anyone with internet access could ever be taken in by adverts pretending to offer "home working".

Why? Just because you have internet access it doesn't mean you have ever been remotely interested in scams, or read about them. I have had a TV since 1963, but have never seen x factor or strictly.
Not every body who has internet access has read the same sites as you.
The reason why these scams work, and have worked for decades, is because there is a constant supply of people who have never heard of them.0 -
Just like to thank OP for the warning....people in desperate situations looking to earn extra money can get a bit blinkered.....unfortunately you got caught out but thank you for naming and shaming the company so that others maybe saved their money.

OMG cant believe people are still being conned by this TBH... I did this many years ago (1990 I think, I was only 17 and didnt know any better), although in those days it was a fiver - but a lot of money when I was earning less than £100 a week!!! Same company as well....0

have you reported them to trading standards0 -
they have got away with it for years so i very much doubt that trading standards can do anything about them !0

This is why I think some kind of sticky thread or banner advert would be useful on these pages to advise people never to pay money for "work".
Like it or not, there are people who are taken in by these scams. Just because the nature of the scam is fairly common knowledge on a forum such as this doesn't give anyone the right to look down their nose at people who fall for them.0
