Shop selling out of date food

Its a local costcutters by my daughters school that i am talking about.
A few weeks ago i brought a multipack of cheese strings for DD's lunchbox. Didnt think much of it until i had spent a few days in hospital when i came home i threw out all the food that had gone off that i checked the date on them and they were nearly 2 months out of date  I just threw them away didnt think much of it, as everyone makes mistakes.
Last week i was then in the shop and DD wanted some yoghurts i made sure that i checked the date on them first an they were nearly 3 weeks out of date so i told her no. I mentioned it to the staff in the shop and they said they would sort it out and get rid of them.
Yesterday i went in there and noticed a pack of 'fresh' mincemeat on the shelf just from the colour to me i wouldnt have eaten it even though it still had a day left on it.
Today i grabbed a packet of crisps as i really fancied a packet of mccoys, i have just gone to open them and noticed it had a competition on the pack with free online entry so i thought oh il go and do that was only when it said the promotion had ended i looked a bit further and the date on them is the 29/09/09!
Now i know this time it is only a packet of crisps and it isnt going to do me much harm, but my kids have been having tummy ache for a couple of weeks now and im wondering if its possible that i have let them have something that was out of date when i brought it and hadnt realised.
Before i get jumped on im not after compensation, i just want the shop to sort itself out and stop selling out of date food to people at over inflated full prices!
Who do i need to complain to as obviously complaining to the shop itself isnt doing much good

Report it to Trading Standards...google your city council website you should find it there. Give them details of what you've seen.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Thanks Valli wasnt sure if it was going to be trading standards or environmental health0

Trading standards check up on sales...environmental health is who you report foul kitchens/takeaways etc to
for a one-off I would NOT have suggested being so heavy handed but if they are persistently not checking stock...goodness knows what's going on 'in the back'.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

the crisps i have sat in my kitchen are best before, the yoghurts and cheese strings were use by dates as was the mincemeat.
Im not being funny though they have a huge box of crisps with a sign saying 'out of date' on them and they are reduced if i wanted out of date crisps i would have got the cheaper ones and not paid 60p for a packet of out of date crisps! :eek:0 -
Costcutter are fairly well known for their lax stock rotation - get Trading Standards on the case and have it sorted.
Hope the kids are feeling better soon0 -

Costcutters are franchises afaik so every store will have different owners...0 -
I did actually google them and although they are franchises they do deal with the complaints of all shops too.
However i also found an email address for the local trading standards and emailed them last night so hopefully it should get something done!
Thanks voiceofreason, i hope they are soon i dont fancy changing another nappy like i had last night  :rotfl:0
