Gallbladder Pain

I had my gallbladder removed back in Feb 2009.
For the last couple of days I am experiencing the same pain. I am just wondering if anyone else still suffers after having had the op. I did read about doing a liver flush, anyone know about this?

I would probably go and get checked out just as a precaution. I had my gallbladder removed in 2002 and have never had another pain, despite slipping back into my old bad eating habits on occasion.
Hope everything works out OK.0 -
everyone i know that has had gall stones or even there gallbladder removed have been fine afterwards.0

It is possible that the body can still produce gall stones that become stuck in the bilary ducts as the gallbladder is no longer there. Having an ultrasound or an ERCP will show if this is the case.
Get it checked out if I were you?0 -
You need to speak to a doctor. Or call NHS direct on 0845 4647.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

i had my gall bladder removed in 2007, i still occasionally get pains, but they never get to the severity thatb they were before the op. Mind you i was pretty bad by the time i finally plucked up the courage to go to the docs!! had the op as an emergency the very next day:o
but as i said i still do get the pains, but i've had a scan and the doc said it happens sometime???0 -

thanks for your post ... i had my gallbladder removetd 3 1/2 years ago and had further complications folowing - i had a cold about 3 weeks ago with a cough that lasted 2 weeks - i have been experiencing pain at my op site for a week (i thought it was pain due to muscle strain and being reffered due to adhesions from origional op) today at work it was wose - spasms that were umbelivable (i know i should have seen a dr earlier - but christmas is coming up and i was too scared to!! i got ill just before christmas last time) as a result of reading this thread i have contacted NHS Direct and have been seen out of hours (45 min consaultation) turns out the problem is muscle damage as a result of coughing fits - i am still in pain but feel better that the problem is muscle strain rather a serious problem due to my previous problem .
i would urge you to get proper medical eveluatin rather than worry.
all the best.

I tried to make an appointment at my docs and the next available is next Thursday. I will see how it goes over the weekend and if it is bad, I will request an emergency appointment. Havent had any pain since Wednesday evening.
I did call NHS direct and the nurse said that gallstones can form again but usually it takes longer. She said it may just be an infection. I am continuing to drink lots of water.Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -

One complication that tends to come with gall bladder removal is irritable bowel.
I have suffered ever since mine was removed in 2005. I have pains in the sight of the gall bladder and further down in my stomach.
I eventually got prescribed Lansopraxole which I take every morning before food. It seems to stablise the pain, and every now and then I need to take two if the pain increases again. It really has been a help, I only got prescribed these tablets out of chance by an out of hours doctor when I felt I was about to have a heart attack the pains were so severe, and they have been a blessing ever since.
I did go back to the consultant, and I would recommend this for you, just to be sure. I was given an ultra sound scan and some more blood tests and they all came back ok. Sadly with ops there are regularly side affects, but these are deemed less severe than the actual problem and that is why they end up going ahead with it. As an aside a friend had cancer, she had the relevant treatment but now has dreadful pains from where the bomb of radiotherapy went off inside her, but she is still with us, and she sees it as the necessary evil to continue to be with us. I guess the same is with the gall bladder, I remember clawing my way up the stairs in agony while I went through the hell of the pain. Now it is just occasional episodes which sadly I have to live with, not ideal, but better than the gall bladder being in!
