Legal cover on Payment shield home insurance

Hello fellow moneysavers,

I am currently in a grievance with my employer and need legal cover for solicitors fees. I am legible under my home insurance wiht payment shield. The cover is provided by DAS . They advised me thta they have a panel but as I was insistent they could look at using my own solicitor.
In addition to all the stress that I have been undergoing, DAS are now saying they will prpocess my claim, so no guarantees, but I have to use their named solicitors. I really do not want to do this.

Can anybody offer any advise or shafre their experience ?

Thanx
A

Is your preferred solicitor an expert on Employment Law because that is what you really need? DAS will use a solicitor who is an expert in the field so it's not clear why you are so reluctant to accept this.

You are entitled to choose your own solicitor however expect a long fight to be able to do so.

Why do you want to use a particular solicitor and not the panel solicitor?

Being realistic as well, DAS are more likely to continue funding their own solicitor as they have heavily preferential rates agreed with them where as they will pull the plug more easily with your own.

Likewise, if you have a complaint about the solicitor and he has been appointed by DAS then you can escalate the complaint to DAS, the Law Society and the Financial Ombudsman Service where as with your own solicitor you are rejudced to just the law society to escalate to.
